A Better Place, A Better Time [Divum Pack Recruiting]
Marcalic solemnly padded her way atop the crunching leaves of the Shining Forest. The rays of sunlight shot through the tall, thin trees and reflected off the yellow leaves, making the place look more radiant than usual. Normally this would fill her with a profound cheerfulness but not today. Not even an hour ago, she had received the announcement that her pack's Alpha and her best friend, Sorine, had been pronounced dead. A couple weeks ago they had all been so elated about the three new lives she had brought into the pack, and now this... She was still trying to make sense of it in her head. She didn't see how it could be an advantage to the pack at all. How could Freyja look at it as a blessing in disguise? It hurt so bad, why would Valkryi want them to feel this pain? Why would she want to let those pups grow up without a mother?

They're not even going to remember her.. WHY DAMMIT!? IT MAKES NO SENSE!

She could feel her faith crumbling within her with every crunch the leaves beneath her paws made. The tears made two rivers on each side of her face that streamed in the most silent manner. She didn't want to let out any cries.

I'm supposed to be peppy and friendly so I can attract new pack members. Can't be seen sobbing...

She highly doubted she would find any one so soon after leaving the hut, but there was still a chance right? Squinting her eyes and trying to see through the burning tears, she desperately scanned the trees. She tried sniffing for other wolves, but she was crying to hard to do so.

Her fox friend had been slowly trailing behind her and stopped walking where she did to join the search. His wintertime fluff had slowly started to peek through his short, brown summer coat.

Maybe it was a bad idea to set off on this mission so soon...

But she didn't know what else to do. She could not stay there and wallow around and feel everyone else's pain. A distraction is what she needed, but now she wasn't so sure.

She took a few deep breaths and collected herself.

"Hello? Anybody around?" She called out out in the most cheery tone she could muster.

RE: A Better Place, A Better Time [Divum Pack Recruiting]
She had been wandering after her discussion with Villo, hunger only a day old for once. As she walked she noticed that less and less of the water from her cloud was touching her fur. She looked up to it, and as if to defy her a drop fell in her eye. The ice maiden shook her head and blinked, her glacial orbs dilating in the bright light. She had exited the ruins of the city, like fallen ice chunks, but made of rocks. Where she lived ice spikes rose into the frigid air, sculpted by the wind they took on fantastic spiral shapes. Her mother and father had used their powers of ice and fire to sculpt a great den from them, melding and intertwining the great spires into the place they called The Palace. She longed for it, and wounds yet hidden by her fur throbbed.

The Demigoddess made her way across the grass until she saw a fores. It was filled with trees she had never seen before. All of the trees she had seen before were snow covered pillars, and in the summer they would turn a deep green color, nearly black. Blood red flowers sprinkled themselves along the branches, and it was the time to feast. She remembered this fondly, and looked upon the trees with a good feeling about them. Entering the thresh hold she heard another wolf speak, catching a few bits of words. Her ears perked and she hurried over. The voice didn't sound like it was having all that good of a day.

She entered a clearing and saw a striking female, reminding her of the reflection off of an ice lake surrounded by snow. The cloud above her moved sinuously between trees leaving a fine mist on them. She made hr presence well known as she did not attempt to hide her approach.

" Excuse me? Are you ok? You sound terribly sad..."

RE: A Better Place, A Better Time [Divum Pack Recruiting]
Marcalic glanced at her fox friend as he darted to hide behind a bush as another wolf approached. He was starting to build trust for her pack, but it looked like strangers were out of the question.

This new wolf appeared to be a Di'shei like her and Freyja, with beautiful ice like fur that had glowing swirls running through it. A dribbling cloud hung above her head. Marcalic thought it kind of peculiar, but what really defined normal around here? She remembered that ShiftSand was somewhat wary of newcomers to the pack, in case they had some ulterior motives that could hurt them. She promised him she would use her skills to make sure such a thing could never happen. Concentrating for a moment, she softened her eyes to pick up the wolf's aura. It shone a bright glacier blue like the rest of her body. Marcalic couldn't pick up any bad vibes from her, so she proceeded to speak with her.

"Oh... is it that obvious? I t-tried not to. But I guess when your best friend just died... it's kinda hard..." Her voice cracked as she tried to hold the tears in. She felt uncomfortable letting out so much emotions around wolves she didn't know.

The ice woman laid her ears back and paid no more heed to laws, rules, stigmas. She was new here but she knew what pain was, what death did to a soul. She walked over to the female and sat down beside her, close enough to touch and sat down beside the femme. The cloud seemed to sense the occasion and began to darken, roiling and filling out. Her icy orbs laid on the female, and she spoke softly.

" Cry."

She had positioned herself that if the other wolf did lose control of her joints and fall, she would be partly cushioned by the femmes body. Her posture, her eyes as they shone, all spelt safety. All said ' let it out, you are among those who know your pain'

Tears welled up and trembled at the bottom of her eyes as soon as the icy wolf told her to cry, no matter how hard she tried to stop them. It's as if they weren't listening to her anymore. Someone else gave them permission to fall, and fall they did. Large droplets fell from her face one after the other and beaded on to the leaves below. Her sobs followed shortly after.

The other wolves inviting and understanding air about her pulled Marcalic's tear soaked face into her fur. She rested her face on her shoulder and continued to sob uncontrollably.

<br>
Her plan was simple.... Find a pack. Survive. Figure the rest of this shit out later. True she abhorred the entirety of the circumstances which brought her here, twisted her form and turned her into this... this... <b>female</b>. <span style="color: #79491d; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #000; font-style: italic;">'Ugh...'</span> the thought of what she looked like how, oh how it made her skin crawl. The bitch felt bound, muzzled and restrained inside this petite little body. It was quite lost on her that, while she felt small and fragile, she was actually one of the largest of her species on this world. To tell her this would be pointless, as her current state of mind was more one of outright denial than anything based in logic.

Even though she believed that this body of hers was only a temporary state, she still kept the vessel in pristine condition. Her fur was silky and clean of briers and twigs, and dirt and debris was avoided at all costs. It wasn't that she was phobic of the stuff, but as she was used to having pure white fur.... Well, old habits die hard. At least an hour of grooming had occurred before her attempt to trek through the forest. The bitch had caught wind of a pack who dwelt within the region, and as this one seemed to be more mysterious, she obviously felt the need to check it out for herself.

Perhaps she would be able to blend in more fully here. Pay her dues and hopefully survive the Winter. This place was not her home, and thus she had no knowledge of the harshness of their seasons. Logic dictated that she find this pack, get them to allow her to join, and bury her head in the sand until kinder weather came around again. A barely contained sigh of frustration passed her lips as she paused in her tracks to once again glance around and test the air. <span style="color: #79491d; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #000; font-style: italic;">'Where the fuck are these wolves?'</span> she grumbled to herself, swiftly growing to impatience. 'For a pack a wolves these creatures are hard to locate.'

Huffing, she pushed herself onward; determined to find someone before she would have to turn back and find someplace to rest again. It took her only a few more minutes of searching before lady luck decided to show some <span style="color: #FFF; font-style: italic; text-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #444;">virtue</span>. There before her were two wolves, though they seemed to be embracing. A fleeting feeling of embarrassment flooded her before she turned her gaze away and paused mid-step to avoid barging into their private moment. This was all for show though, as in reality Cas cared very little about the feelings of others, but in case the two spotted her she had to make sure that she appeared to play the part of the shy, kind vixen.

After a moment of waiting, she fought back revulsion at the sight of such obvious displays of weakness and fixed her features into a mask of concern and innocent curiosity. <span style="color: #906f36; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #444;">"Excuse me ma'am's, I don't mean to intrude but I am looking for the pack that dwells in these woods."</span> The lass had a faint, smooth british accent and her use of proper speech only granted her the <span style="color: #FFF; font-style: italic; text-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #444;">essence</span> of a shy maid out for a stroll. Being so new to their world was an obvious disadvantage, but in her mind being in a pack would be the only <span style="color: #FFF; font-style: italic; text-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #444;">advantage</span> to an otherwise horrible experience. <span style="color: #79491d; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #000; font-style: italic;">'Like the old saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.'</span> In the other paw, a tiger cannot change one's stripes and all the while the suspicious part of her mind called loudly for any water in the area to collect beneath and around her paws.... Just in case.

RE: A Better Place, A Better Time [Divum Pack Recruiting]
She watched as the femme fell to her intent, and laid her head over her sobbing shouldr. Oh, but it brought tears to her own eyes to hear such pain again. The star patterned femme would not be without a friend for as long as she needed one. The demigoddess had lost her entire family, she knew the achingly cold sorrow that lurked deep in the chest, freezing ther blood and sending ice shards into the heart. It was crippling, and she would help this woman through it as long as she needed it.

She was resting her head on the crying femme when another brought her attention. Her first instinct was to protect the crying one, but when she saw the femme, felt her draw water to her, she knew she was as alert as she was. Tones of the deep glacier draped her.

" Hello, im not sure what pack of which you speak, but this femme may belong to it. If you would allow a moment or two for her to compose herself im sure she could tell you all that you need to know." She was not stern, but pain hardened her voice.

RE: A Better Place, A Better Time [Divum Pack Recruiting]
Marcalic could feel the pain within her new acquaintance and it made her cry even harder. Though it also helped for her to trust her more. She obviously knew how it felt to lose all the ones she loved with the amount of grief that flooded into Marcalic's psyche the moment she rested her head on her shoulder. It immediately reminded her of the family she had left behind, the disaster that took their lives. Her grandmother trying so hard to get her to a safe place, but succumbing to death before she could do so. She had a feeling they would be able to relate to each other on many levels and hoped she had found a new friend.

The starry wolf (who's stars had completely gone dim) had been crying so hard that she failed to notice the other wolf approaching them. Her head shot up and the sobs ceased as soon as this newcomer spoke. Blood rushed to her face in embarrassment. She wasn't embarrassed to cry around the icy wolf, yet for some reason she couldn't fathom it was different around this one.

"Yes..." She squeaked out in between sniffles "That's.. my pack.."

It didn't occur to her at the time to ask why this wolf was looking for her pack, or what her motives could be. It wasn't exactly the first thing on her mind even though ShiftSand had been sketchy of newcomers. Pain had flooded her mind and swept away any rational thoughts. Any chance of her being able to see auras to decide on whether or not they should be aloud into her pack lands were completely destroyed by her pounding head and tear filled eyes.

<span style="color: #999; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #000; font-style: italic;">"Hello, im not sure what pack of which you speak, but this femme may belong to it. If you would allow a moment or two for her to compose herself im sure she could tell you all that you need to know."</span> A small trace of amusement caught her off guard causing her carefully crafted masque of concern and curiosity to fracture, thus allowing a single eyebrow to raise as the <span style="color: #FFF; font-style: italic; text-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #444;">frigid</span> creature replied to her curt collection of comments. Part of her wanted to drop the act and smack that tone right out of her vocal chords, but the more rational, practiced side her warned that first impressions were important and picking her battles would be key to coming out on top in this situation. Siding with reason, she forced herself to nod her head briskly before biting her tongue and waiting for the other to pull herself together.

<span style="color: #906f36; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #444;">"I understand. Take your time miss,"</span> she responded. Her tone was clipped and icy, but many years of having to placate her <span style="color: #FFF; font-style: italic; text-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #444;">stalwart</span> father had her trained to keep a mildly pleasant undertone to anything she said. In an attempt to make herself seem more, pleasant, the bitch forced her tense muscles and sinew into a sitting position. Her bottom merely hovered a half-inch above the ground, ready to spring back into all fours at the very moment she might need to. She felt the dew of the morning trickling towards her paws, collecting in a small puddle.

This power was still very new, and Casanova was unsure what real good it would do to have it, especially now that she realized that one of the figures before her also held the Winter mantle. Still, she strove to keep a <span style="color: #FFF; font-style: italic; text-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #444;">tenacious</span> hold over her meager supply of the liquid as she waited for the sniffles and tears to stop. It took a lot for the fae to mask her true thoughts about the situation, but where she came from there were those who could read the thoughts and moods of others. It came so easy to them. As easy as picking a berry from a bush for others, they could pull thoughts from your mind.... She had even heard word of some who had mastered the ability to the point that they could alter your memories or take them from you in their entirety.

So far none of those creatures seemed to exist here but the fae tended to play her cards close to her chest, and she kept those thoughts that might betray her buried behind mundane thoughts of food and shelter. <span style="color: #999; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #000; font-style: italic;">"Yes... That's.. my pack.."</span> Cas broke from her thoughts as the other spoke; sniffles, squeaks and all. Her gilded green eyes shifted to capture the downtrodden fae in her eyes, and she propped a small smile onto her lips. <span style="color: #906f36; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #444;">"Then you ma'am have just made my day,"</span> she started, allowing a sigh filled with mock fatigue to slip passed her lips. <span style="color: #906f36; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #444;">"You have absolutely no idea how long I've been looking."</span> she finished, flashing another hundred watt smile.

<span style="color: #906f36; text-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #444;">"I have heard word that your pack lingered in this area, and I have been fostering hope that you might have a little more room for a wandering warrior."</span> she said, cocking her head to the side some as she shifted her stance which caused the bracelet on her hind paw to clink around. Normally she wouldn't go around telling everyone about her physical prowess, but as she had to arch her head down just to look at the two, Cas figured that sweetening her lies with the truth was the best way to make them palatable.

RE: A Better Place, A Better Time [Divum Pack Recruiting]
Cas changed her mind abruptly, as if realizing that any moment her cover could be blown. She would it was best to leave for now and attempt to locate more, put-together members of the pack.
<b>"Thank you for your help, loves. I believe I will leave you to your mourning and look for the pack myself."</b> Her paws scuffed the earth beneath them as she pivoted and made her way towards the way she assumed Divum was. It was simple, she just followed the remnants of the scent trail that Marcalic had left on her trek here. Perhaps backtracking her steps would lead her where she was needed.
