A change of course

Amazed, the dark orange she-wolf let her thoughts go over the subject. And she was basically told that anyone could do it. She wondered if she was the only one not having magic in this land besides puppies. As Freyja explained of other elements, she started to nod. Of course Air was probably not the only one. But learning some of it, she might even come to understand this element. Maybe it could help her prevent accidents like her sister's in the future.

Aamu thought over the lilac she-wolf's words. "I am not sure I have such an affinity," she answered. "I hardly knew one could use magic at all." As she was curious how this would work, she sat down and tried to search inside herself for some affinity with magic, but didn't really know what to search for. "How would something like that feel?" she asked.

She nodded, understanding the other wolf's conundrum. If you had not been born with magic, how would you know? It was a real concern for this wolf, and Freyja smiled calmly, wanting to give her reassurance that her queries were not in fact, bothersome to the winged Herald. After all, that was one of the tenents of the worship of Valkryie, to give information when necessary.

<b>"Well, it is hard to tell, at first, I would say. However, those that first learn they have an affinity likely do so as I did when I was very young. You see, at a certain point, you simply <i>feel</i> a certain way about something, as if it is akin to your very own spirit. That feeling, the feeling of kinship to air that I felt when I was much younger, as if it were a part of my very own soul. I would sniff the air and feel it's touch and realize it was something familiar, you know?"</b> She waited a few moments to see if she understood.

Still sitting down, Aamu listened closely to the winged wolf's words, then focused her attention on the air she breathed, the air around her, actually feeling the small shifts in warmth and cold when she moved an ear or a paw. Slowly she came more to an understanding of the air, she could touch it now. Not move it without moving herself yet, though. She needed more focus for that.

As she nodded to Freyja that she came to some sort of understanding, she closed her eyes. Now for the hard part. She needed to do this with her spirit, not her body. Focussing again on breathing in cold air and breathing out the warm, she tried touching it this time. Of all her curiousity of the world, she'd never thought she could do something with the air and yet she stirred something. Something was the only appropiate word, for hadn't she done this herself she might not even have noticed the small change she made. Holding her breath in anticipation, she looked up at Freyja. Had she really touched the air or had it been imagined by her wishes and overly concentrated thoughts?

She watched as the wolf before her then seemed to concentrate as if she really was trying to feel the air around. Now, for Freyja, this was an easy task, after all, she had been working with the air so long that it was simply a reflex, as easy as breathing. So she waited, wondering if the wolf before her would be successful in her endeavors. As the lavendar di'shei herself had a great affinity towards the air in particular, she knew she could detect even the slightest amount of possible nudging. There wasn't much that she felt. But that didn't mean that Aamu should stop trying. She smiled at her kindly.

<b>"Not yet, I do not think. However, you should keep trying. Perhaps, if you are meant to feel the air, and acquire it's affinity, you will one day succeed. And when you do, I would be pleased to help you along your path. It can take some time for such skills to develop, do not despair."</b> After all, hadn't she been young once and inexperienced? All wolves needed to grow and learn and finding out abilities as they went was part of that. Especially in this strange land with it's strange energies.

OOC: btw, do I need to return to anyone with air skill once I've got the XP for this one or can I just state she kept on practising?

Aamu nodded. Slightly disappointed though, she understood that this was no easy task. She had to keep searching then. She really did try to feel the air, but feeling it in her fur was not enough. Even if she actually had somewhat touched it, she also needed to be able to push and pull it and that was just too much to ask for the day. But she wanted to. So she would keep on trying. Surely one day she could return to Freyja and show her that she had progressed. She'd have to explore beyond the city more, anyway. "I'll keep on trying then." she stated. "I'll be sure to look you up when I'm getting better at it," she promised.
Cocking her head slightly as a new thought entered her head, she asked "So, just one last question (I hope), but basically every element has this same kind of affinity?", just to be sure. She expected a yes, since the winged she-wolf had told her it would be easier if she had already found another element affinity.

<i>ooc: The way it works on this site, is that you get xp for posting that you claim when this thread has ended, and once you get enough xp, you can purchase yourself a skill. ^.^ It's all explained on the wiki. You can practice on your own or you can find someone else with a similar skill and have them train you specifically. ^^ In this case, you still can get some xp for having Freyja explain "teach" you but since you don't share a skill, it's not as much. </i>

She smiled gladly, after all, this was not a bad thing, to have wolves that needed training, to come to her to receive it. <b>"I am always honored to train those that are in need and willing. After all, it is a grand thing to do in training others so that they may better themselves."</b> That was the best explanation she could give for it. If all wolves were able to better themselves, that meant all wolves could be that much more happy and present in today's society.

At Aamu's next query, she had a response for that as well, and she gave it easily. <b>"There are the elements of air, earth, fire, water, light, shadow, blood and spirit. Each of those, should a wolf possess them, you will feel an affinity towards them within yourself. So in that way, they are the same, yes."</b>

OOC: Okay, thanks It was hard to find on the wiki with all the different pages (it wasn't in the main 'skills' page ). I did find the xp page too but I think I'll have to take a look at it every time I want to claim some xp hehe Gonna wrap this up a bit though, as I'm getting out of inspiration and I want to start new threads and I can't handle them all at the same time ^^

Aamu nodded, thinking this over. She knew she was fast and could train in that, too, and she was sure she could train strength and defence and such as well. And as Freyja told her, a wolf could have an affinity with a basic element as well, which she had somewhat 'discovered' herself, even though she could do nothing with it. She wanted to learn though, so she would continue practising.
Taking in all of this information, had taken it's toll on her mind though. She felt kind of tired, even though she hadn't run around for long really, and it felt weird as this was probably the first time she had experienced such. Smiling at Freyja, she thanked her for the explanations she had given. "Thank you for telling me all these things. I hope I haven't bothered you too much for the time being. I myself will have to think this over some more, as it's a lot of information to take in at once. Though I think that it was my own doing with all those questions." she added, and smiled at the lilac winged wolf.

She smiled and nodded, understanding. It was a lot for one wolf to take in all at once, so Freyja would not push her in any such way. After all, it would be her decision what she wanted to train, and when she wanted to train it. The di'shei felt that this wolf had a good head on her shoulders, so all she would need to do would be to think of what she wanted to do, and it would be hers. If only it were that easy for so many.

<b>"I am always happy to give information. I have been in this world a great many years and as a Herald of Valkryi in particular, I have a calling to aid those where and when I can. You may always come find me at Divum, which is to the south, nestled between two forests. The wall that surrounds my lands is large, and very beautiful, all one needs to do is howl at the border and they will be welcomed."</b> She nodded and her long tail swished the ground behind her as she gave that information. Then, she looked at the sky and gave a bit of a rueful smile.

<b>"I should be heading back, speaking of. I have found exactly what information I needed from here, and I have met you. It has been a wonderful meeting. I hope to see you again."</b> She nodded to the other wolf and then, with a gentle manipulation of her own air magic, she unfolded her wings and rose into the sky, not letting a gust or a ripple hit Aamu on her way up. Then, she had turned and was winging to the south easily, aloft on her currents of air.

Aamu nodded as Freyja spoke, absorbing all the information about how to find her when needed so that she could. She might, in the future, actually need someone with more experience in this world. Of course Freyja also needed to take a look at her pack, and thus she understood that she needed to return. Feeling quite a bit lonely again, for being with other wolves was what she delighted in, she watched the lilac winged wolf go. Sure, she would go look for her one day. "Until then," she said and smiled. Well, first she had some more exploring to do, and some training. She just needed to figure out what she wanted before that. But the thought of learning to control the air that had killed her sister was one very big motive to start with that one.
