RE: The Books of Men
As Aamu lifted their first treasure into her bag, she hadn't noticed the bug but took his word for it, and quickly moved up to the next book he brought. It was made of a strange stuff that wasn't exactly paper*, and had been well-preserved for it. After looking it through, she added it to her bag and snugged along the lines of books again, opening a small number of books and putting some in her bag, of different difficulties. Surely when she got home she'd have more time to read these things, but right now she'd only come to collect them before they were all gone. They should be better preserved than out in the open, windy, mouldy building like this. Her den would need some extra space if she continued storing these human things in there, or maybe she could use a spare den like the ones Shy had showed her. Maybe he could make some sort of case like these shelves, too, but it had to wait till his return.

After collecting a number of books - about 7 pieces - she opened a next one with her paw. She was getting quicker at this, sorting trough the pages at a rather fast pace. This time, however, it held another book bug! A life one, and it wiggled and bit her! She yelled and threw herself backwards, simultaneously getting very angry at it. What! It was eating away knowledge! She growled, and inside her sparked her new heat ability. Just you wait, nasty little book-eating bug! A small but very effective flame burnt in the worm, and she felt satisfied seeing it eating away the worm. And the book. Wait? Uh-oh. That was not supposed to happen! She lost her focus and her fire magic disappeared as quickly as it had appeared, leaving her with a burning book. Now what? She was quick enough to give her bag a shove, but meanwhile danced around the fire in small panic. What if it burnt the whole library? "Torro?! I need some help!"

RE: The Books of Men
Torro was busy looking into other books when he heard her claws pattering on the ground, and she exclaimed for his help. Torro turned, and instantly smelled fire. Fire? In a place full of wood and books? All the knowledge...vanquished? That would not do, no. The male quickly approached the growing fire, and shot a glance toward her. "Stop dancing. If we don't contain it now we lose everything.a fire can't breath without oxygen, so lets take it away."

He watched with growing alarm as the flames edged closer to other books and things that could be lit aflame. Taking the most outter edge of the fire he conjured up a ball of air, and concentrated on making the orb spin about to suck the oxygen away from the fire. He had only a portion of it contained, and couldn't get the pocket of air to go any bigger. The rest was up to her. The orb of wind began to effectively ciphen all the air out of the pocket, and the flames began to die.

RE: The Books of Men
Aamu felt helpless at the fire. She knew she'd started it, but she also knew that she was by far too upset to kill it! She was moving back and forth around the fire source, not a clue about what to do, when Torro's words came to her mind. Stop dancing! She froze for a moment, then sorted her thoughts again.

Stop dancing?! Aamu snorted, but at least the words made her snap out of it. It was true, they had no time for these things. She was unfortunately too upset to find her fire affinity again, but air was something she'd worked with before. Only she'd never used her affinity to remove air from a place. Suck it empty as it were. But there was reason to do it, and so she pulled it thin, leaving only so much of it in an almost-vacuum space at the other side of which Torro was working to be used up quickly by the flame, and therefore it was vacuum. He was using a different technique including a spinning something, but Aamu was busy enough pushing any air that she could find away from the flame, which was getting smaller and smaller. Now to hold it, was actually quite hard, but she managed. She managed, but it was about all she could do to hold it. She really wanted that flame to stop. It was only a matter of time, and she stared at it, mentally willing it to douse.

It did. She just wasn't sure if she'd worked air and fire both together or if the air alone had stopped the flames. Well, there was only so much she could do. It was probably only air. And Torro's quick thinking, she had to give him that. Panting, Aamu sat down and stared at the book's ashes. "At least this one was already eaten." she managed to bring out.

RE: The Books of Men
It took a fair amount of concentration for the both of them, but the simply must protect their treasures. It was difficult to hold his vortex that was sucking all the air away from the flames, and there were a few times he felt it try to slip away from him. He grunted, and began to feel his columns tremble but finally the fire was out with the team work between two air mages.

As soon as he saw it was out he released his hold on the vortex and it dissipated into the air. He fell back to his rump, and then to his back where he released a bark of laughter, and flicked his audits to Aamu's words. He nodded solemnly, and said "At least we saved the rest of them." He was peering at her upside down, and grinned sheepishly. "Are you alright Aamu?"

RE: The Books of Men
After a few moments of heavy breathing, Torro looked at her laughing, which made her grin, too. "Good thing I'm not that much of a fire mage." she added. "Maybe I should focus on learning water, too, just in case." she laughed, and looked into her friend's face.

She nodded at his question, a bit more serious. "Yeah, I'm fine, just shocked and a bit tired from the magic use. Maybe we should call it a day and bring those books back before I set anything else on fire." she nodded to her bag which she had shoved away earlier, and looked at him to see what he thought on the matter. She was still a bit excited due to the adrenaline rush, eyes wide in exhaustion and expectation.

RE: The Books of Men
She made the comment that she wasn't much of a fire mage, and maybe she should learn water as well. "Or learn how to control your fire." He said, a teasing grin twisting his features into something comical. When she suggested that they go back to Divum, Torro rolled to his paws, and frowned. "I enjoy having you to myself." He rumbled, watching her for a moment before consenting to her wishes. "As you wish, though."

He stepped toward her fluently, and added one more book to their collection. He wrapped his jowls around the strap, and tested the weight. He grimaced, and glanced up at her. "Are you sure you'll be able to fly with this? I could probably do it if you needed." He said sincerely, looking in her large excited orbs.

RE: The Books of Men
"You go ahead and control your own fires first before commenting," she snorted, as she watched him roll over. Not really fair since he hadn't shown any fire abilities like she, but still. It felt to her that this fire affinity was trickier than the air ever was, although maybe that was just the case because she thought it more dangerous stuff in itself.

Thinking things over like that, she almost missed out on his other sentence. "You, what?" she blurted out before thinking on the matter. He changed the subject quickly enough, but she kept wondering for a little longer, and blinked when he was suddenly close, testing the weight of her bag. Aamu shook her head to get rid of any unwelcome thoughts and took over the bag to see how bad it was. "Hmm. It might be too heavy to fly with indeed. Won't it be dragging you down, too?" But she didn't want to leave all the treasures behind. "I mean, we could still walk." she offered, looking at the light. It wasn't as late yet as it had been when she first met Czest which had also been in the city, be it more in the open. That had been in winter, and so they would have more light today.

RE: The Books of Men
Torro chose to let the first comment slide simply for the fact that he didn't wish to fight with Aamu. He hadn't meant any ill-will in those words but she took it offensively and he would respect that.

His next statement threw her for a loop too and he chose not to comment on that either to keep her waiting. She spoke of how the bag would drag him down as well, and he nodded in agreement. "They would, wouldn't they?" He didn't want to leave the precious treasures behind either. He wanted to learn from them, and learn the hyuman language. He spared a glance toward her, and murmured "You really are extrodianary, Aamu." He would not mind walking with her back to Divum.

RE: The Books of Men
The orange female had been concentrated on the practical side of bringing home the books, merely to avoid having to answer on his first comment of having her to himself. As that suggestion had been accepted, however, she had more time to think on it. Well, it was flattering her she supposed, feeling a bit shy about it. She did feel comfortable besides him, although she wasn't sure if that was exactly what he'd meant.

She nodded at him when he claimed no objection against a walk. "So... you still want to carry them or should I take that back? Or just some of them?" she asked him with a smirky smile, coming close enough to take over the bag again if he so wished. As he did not immediatly give it up, however, she sat down and looked at his golden orbs curiously. Then blinked as he complimented her. "Uhh, thanks?" she wasn't sure how to react for a hearbeat, although she knew exactly what to think. She might just set something else on fire today.

"Seen yourself lately?" she grinned at him, nodding to the starry skies that painted his wings. Not your everyday handsome either, she found, slowly waving her tail over the dusty ground where she sat. To be honest, besides looking good, she hadn't met anyone else who was so interested in the books and the leftovers from the human world, which immediatly classified him as her best friend yet. "Who else is learning human speech? We must be out of our minds." she added after a moment of thinking, and shook her head. She grinned at him, wondering what he was thinking now.

RE: The Books of Men
He grinned playfully at her as she asked if he still wanted to carry the books, and he shook his head with a grin on his face. "What kind of a gentleman would I be if I allowed you to carry the heavy bag." He slipped his crown through the strap, and let it slide onto his shoulders. He sat down though, and waited for her to lead the way.

He smirked at her as she peered at him curiously, and said thanks. "You're welcome." She asked if he had seen himself, and he nodded. "Its not too flashy, is it?" She then posed who else was trying to learn the human language, and he laughed out loud in a sound that was robust. "I'd reckon that we're the only wolves crazy enough to learn their language."
