In his dream like state Cinder moved through the dark shadows and closer to the sparkle of light that seemed to keep it's distance from him only long enough to make him move closer. It was as if this speck of light was ebbing him closer, wanting him to follow. He continued until he thought he might recognize the sparkle. Surely he had seen this light before. 
On the outside he made little to no movement. His chest still rose and fell with no change in pace, though his feet twitched every now and again, the first signs of other movement since he had been struck.

 Small ash colored particles fell from a cloudy sky. The ruddy colored Ubeli padded through the dust that covered her home. Loneliness and isolation had begun to take its toll on her. She had begun to see things that weren’t there and respond to voices that were not present. They were comforting to her, these voices, because as long as she heard them she wasn’t alone. 
 The sky was particularly dreary this morning; she couldn’t even distinguish one cloud from another. At least some days she could see another horizon beyond the hazy every grey sky. With no sun, and no real shadows, it was hard to tell which direction she was traveling, never the less she continued onward in search of any life left. After traveling half a day she came across what looked like stone ruins, though she knew not what they were. <font color=”#FF4500”><b>”Oh hush,”</b></font> she snapped at the imaginary voice, . <font color=”#FF4500”><b>”How are we ever going to find anything or anyone if you are always scared? What if they need us?”</b></font> She shook the settling dust from her fur and continued through the rubble. Her head hung low as she searched, her extra sensitive nose working hard to pick up anything left behind. She thought as she searched how funny this must seem, searching for others like herself, though she knew not what they would look like or even smell like, she trusted that if she picked up on a scent that she would know what it was. Until then she kept searching and hoping. 
After a while she found a stone structure that seemed to be still intact for the most part. Built more like an underground den with a stone arch way entrance, the structure seemed to have been left untouched by the destruction that had ravaged the rest of the world around it. <font color=”#FF4500”><b>”I don’t know what it is,”</b></font> she spoke to the phantom voice around her, . <font color=”#FF4500”><b>”maybe this is where the others have gone.”</b></font> As she entered into the darkness of the underground structure, she had to blink several times to allow her eyes to adjust. There was a faint smell here of something long since gone, though she couldn’t place it. Excitement coursed through her veins as she thought more and more about the possibility of this being what she had been looking for all this time. As she traveled through the darkness she walked through bits of debris that littered the floor. Her paw struck a small object making a small <i>‘clink’ </i>sound. A swirling vortex of pale blue, white, and black formed, lighting the entire room. For the first time she could see the details of the room around her. It looked as though some creature had lived here. There were all sorts of things lying about that she couldn’t begin to describe. A million questions raced through her mind, however she focused on the swirling blue vortex before her. <font color=”#FF4500”><b>”Oh don’t be silly. What is the worst that could happen? What if we find someone? What if this is where they have all gone?”</b></font> She sucked in a big breath and stepped into the vortex.
