RE: Wind is coming
Closing in now easily, the lerk bounced forward and hooked herself to the boar. Now the time was for Aamu to close in, and she did so swiftly, seeing that the boar could not be held like so forever if it weren't weakened. So the dynroth came at it's other side, carefully slicing blades of sharpest air at the underbelly and hind legs, deliberately taking down the defenses most quickly. She didn't want her new hunting friend hurt by the boar after all, and neither by the air slashes, so she was not as careless as she would have been on her own at this - it took some time then, and she just hoped the female lerk could hold on just a little longer until she'd pierced either the pig's underside or one of it's legs.

<br>Bandersnatch flowed with the boar a few steps before she was able to slow it and her grip was deep enough to hold it, but at the dynroth's next move, she was glad she was able to, and the struggling, now squealing creature's thick hide was parted by the sheer force of the air, the precision a thing to behold. Being of thinner skin and fewer forms of armor overall, these cuts of the wind affected the boar's legs the first and most, and as the assault of the air was in progress, Bandersnatch chanced to stretch up like a startled ruins cat and press her sharp quills against the boar. They were not sturdy or thick enough to do more than scratch and stick in where the ends snapped off, but they would hinder forward movement and broke the skin in places.<br>

The prey switched gears from here, trying to backpedal rather than tugging forwards, with the affect of bashing the lerk in the snout with an elbow and causing her to at the next opportunity raise her snout off of it entirely, a drip of her own blood mixing with that from her bite on the boar. Her snout didn't seem broken or anything of the sort, but it was painful and made it so the boar could run again, clumsy from pain and injury to the legs and taking a good deal of the quills from Bandersnatch's side with it, and this time, a few had worked into the join of the nearer hind limb, and on both sides the creature's steps had a delay to them. Once it had got a good distance, it turned half-circle toward Aamu, and seemed to have a mind to strike it's attackers if it could get back at them, knowing that running was unlikely to work.

RE: Wind is coming
While her air blades had been mostly succesfull, the boar was certainly not down yet. It twisted and turned, all the while held by the spiked lerk until her quills pierced it's hide - somewhat at least. The animal seemed to understand running was hardly doable any longer and instead focused on the one speck of orange that was close by.

However, she was an air mage, something of raw power that wasn't immediately recognised by most and neither by this boar. So when it lunged at her, indeed she took a few steps back only to summon a large block - a wall of air to hold the first charge, dazzling the pig enough for the winged female to take air in the meantime. Now other magic came at play, as she prepared a ball of fire to launch - combining it with air, she was able to make one slightly hotter and bigger for her fire level; but she didn't throw it just yet thinking of the lerk below.

<br>    Bandersnatch recognized now something that she hadn't initially. If she had stalked the boar the way she'd intended to, and fought it the same way she'd fight a deer, she wouldn't have been able to get far on it. In truth, though she fancied herself an ace huntress, Bandersnatch had had very few encounters with boars in her life, and had to admit she'd underestimated their hardiness. When the boar had gotten away from her this time, she hadn't made another move toward it, waiting now to catch her breath. As such there was now a bit of distance between her and the boar as it had run at Aamu. Realizing she was now in the way, Bandersnatch circled wider and turned, watching from a few yards away and waited, panting, at what she felt was a safe distance. She'd seen- and felt Aamu's first response, and now contented herself to keep watch from the sidelines and make sure she'd be able to jump back in if anything went wrong. The addition of fire to the mix surprised Bandersnatch- she felt it was sort of cheating, personally, but then again to many wolves the hunt was merely a way to fill one's belly, not so much a test of wolf and beast. It made a dazzling display, all the same.<br>

RE: Wind is coming
Soaring through the air was her favourite pastime, but then, the roaring fire had nothing to do with that usually. This time, however, once she spotted Bandersnatch' location, she did, and created a ring of fire around the boar and the other huntress, so that the prey animal would not easily bolt again. This of course, enraged the pig, but since he couldn't go anywhere else now, headed straight for the spiked female - better that than be burned, probably. Aamu dove down unto the scene, ready to repeat what the both hunters had done before - holding and wounding the boar, and since it was already weakened, the goal was to kill the animal now.

<br>Bandersnatch was surprised by Aamu's actions, having expected her to try and burn the boar directly, and now she found herself at a disadvantage due to the short distance the boar was rapidly closing, accelerating all the while. Bandersnatch, not willing to let herself get bowled over and burnt, moved forwards a length herself in the time she had left to do so before rearing up and using that moment of balance she had to hop and smack into the boar from above, chest first and limbs quickly wrapping around the sides of the animal as she felt sharp tusks cut at her belly. Fortunately for Bandersnatch, she was a rather well padded creature, and though blood spilled from fresh cuts onto the beast's face, nothing any more vital came with it. with a roar of pain and frustration Bandersnatch pulled the boar further under herself, extending one leg and pulling the other up onto it's nose, simultaneously slamming her spiked chin down on it's back. Easily heavier than the wounded creature now struggling to shake her, she could feel the beast's injured legs buckle and slid the paw up on it's face over to the other side of it so she was left-to-left with it, she pressed the animal roughly down into the earth, unsticking her chin from the three small punctures her spikes had made to try and smack the point of her lower left horn up against it and hope it would catch, all the while still pressing down on the boar. This was their chance to finish the fight.<br>

RE: Wind is coming
Closing in quickly, Aamu wasn't fast enough towards the scene to prevent a hard struggle for the lerk, who was forced to take on the boar and used her spikes and horns to open up more skin of the animal. A scent of blood filled the air, but she wasn't sure who's as both wolf and boar were screaming in either agony or frustration or both. When she landed however, the spiked female was already on top of the pig, holding it in a sort of grip. Aamu didn't think long on it and rushed in, now using bared teeth and claw and targeting an exposed boar-belly. She worked quickly, though it was straining and hard work to get through it's tough skin, hoping that now, finally, she'd get to kill the darn thing and it'd be over soon.

<br>Killing the darn thing, indeed, was what happened. It struggled against them both for awhile, but the struggling very rapidly deteriorated into stiff twitching and motion for the sake of motion. It was not long after that the creature was thoroughly dead, and Bandersnatch was able to back off a few steps and admire their work, panting roughly. This has been quite a fight, and Bandersnatch had gained a newfound respect for the sort of creature they had been dealing with. Slowly, large lerkrathi ears came forwards, eyes widened, thorned hackles lowered, and Bandersnatch sat down heavily, still in reach of the boar but waiting to regain her breath and to watch the actions of her chance hunting companion. She did not know this other wolf's temperament or her station in life, but she intended to find out more about her once she was good and ready to get up and speak again. Adrenaline held hunger temporarily at bay, though a well earned feast was now laid out for them. The plum warrior-huntress smiled as she breathed in deep, slowing huffs.<br>

RE: Wind is coming
Finally, finally the boar died. Slowly and twitching and probably very painfully, but she had no other options at this point because she wasn't capable of suffocating such a big animal efficiently (without the choking taking way too long that was), and the hide was too thick for her air blades to hit a central vein quickly.

Panting, muzzle bloodied, she regained her posture. It took some breaths for her to speak, and secretly she wished to be more skilled in water magic so she might create her own to wash her face. Still, the other female didn't look a pretty lady either, so it was not the most important thing anyway. Aamu sat down on the forest floor, carefully retracting and then dousing the flames by the use of fire magic as she was accustomed to.

Then she turned her attention to the quilled lerkrat, face lit up and nodded happily. "That was quite the hunt. Thank you for the help; it would have taken much more time and effort to bring it down with only the magic." she admitted, now wondering if she even would have been able to do that - magic use was very tiring as well.

<font color="85295c">"Aye,"</font> Bandersnatch acknowledged, once she could speak again. <font color="85295c">"Pork for all, and for all a good fight. Were it not fer' your magic, though, I'd not have been able to do much to it."</font>
<br>The gruff-voiced, hefty lerkrat lowered herself to her stomach, tucking a hind leg firmly against the long cut on her belly. The heat around them dying down was a welcome change to a creature not very familiar with fire, though the combination had proved rather impressive in battle. She could get at the neck and forelegs of the creature from where she lay, and she brought her muzzle down towards the boar, but spoke again first.<br>
<font color="85295c">"I myself dabble in the fine art of wind magic, but I'm not all that good at it yet."</font> she barked, then moving to gnaw on and cut at the tough hide of their kill, finding it a bit easier now that it wasn't fighting back.
