Keita shook her head in response to the young wolf. No, wolves should not want to leave, and she knew she should make sure that he understood. As a parent herself, she knew of hte dangers that young wolves could face, and she would wish that she could aid them whenever she could. <font color="#1B3F8B"><b>"No. They do not wish to go, they are stolen. A portal . . . well it's magic, but not of this world. It is a thing that arrives in a world and takes a creature from it and takes them to another world. They can appear quite suddenly, and anywhere, it seems. So one must always be careful and cautious about strange magic."</b></font>

A bit of a sigh came from her at that, figuring that her sons and her mate would have been careful. But perhaps they had been surprised, or snuck up on. There were may different scenarios that might have happened, she supposed. <font color="#1B3F8B"><b>"You see, many years ago, my mate and one of my sons were taken away from these lands in that manner, and I fear that my other son has been removed from these lands in that way as well. I have powerful magics of earth and spirit and I was hoping to perhaps figure out some clues as to how to make these things stop happening here. I do not think I will have luck, unfortunately."</b></font>

Skye's eyes widened with fear as she spoke. How could this magic be? The idea of a creature being here one moment and gone the next scared him. Was anyone safe? This wolf was very skilled, though he couldn't prove that, and it scared him that even one so skilled could not know these things. He listened to her story with great care and empathy, much like his mother. "That must have been awful." he barked softly trying to imagine the same thing using his family. This conversation made him regret his juvenile attitudes and wishes to move to another pack. He could see the hurt in Keita's eyes and never wanted to see or imagine that hurt in his mother's eyes.

"Do you think that if a wolf is taken, he can be brought back?" he asked hopeful that the answer was yes.If so there was a chance that maybe Keita's family could return. Maybe she could be happy again, it seemed unlikely that a wolf could ever be fully happy after experiencing that, even to a young wolf like Skye.

She could tell that her story was affecting the young wolf and though she felt a bit bad about it, this couldn't be helped, she thought. All young ones needed to know more of the world, and at least it were she teaching it to him in a kindly way, rather than him fnding out without any wolf that would gently guide him to the conclusion. She nodded at the idea of it being awful, as if that were any sort of contest, of course it had been.However, she continued on with answering his queries as best that she could. <font color="#1B3F8B"><b>"That, I do not honestly know for sure. I have heard a few tales of wolves that have been gone a good long time, and then have returned form somewhere, although not all were willing to share details of their stories. So perhaps? I do know that one cannot guarantee it, which is why I was hoping to find some information of my own."</b></font>

Even while it seemed a hopeless situation, she did have more to offer on the entire subject., however. It was that very reason that had brought her out here where she was now speaking with him. <font color="#1B3F8B"><b>"I feel that things such as that should leave some sort of a magical residue in the lands, a thread that, perhaps if found, could give one an idea as to how to seek them back again. I have more searching to do on that, I think. I do not, in fact, know where exactly they disappeared, which is a problem as well."</b></font> Was her honest offer to that, giving a small shrug and a tail flick at that. Although it did clearly bother her, she did not seem to want to linger on it too long, if it wasn't here, it simply wasn't here and one did always have to move forward.

Skye sat there a bit puzzled by all of this. What was this magical residue? How did portals work? Why did some come back and others not? The world had just become much more complicated to the young wolf than he had ever imagined possible. These were strange ideas coming from Keita, but for one reason or another he trusted her and wanted to help her in any way he could.

"I know I don't know a lot about magic and residue and portals. But maybe I can help. I'll be careful and make sure one of those portal things don't sneak up on me. Maybe I can help you find these things. Maybe if we work together you might get answers quicker." He looked at her with such innocence and honesty. He genuinely wanted to help. After a moment he added, "And if not anything else, maybe I can keep you company. It could get lonely out here alone."

She smiled at him, he was very endearing. It almost seemed as if she had been meant to meet this young wolf, and he very much reminded her that she had formerly had sons that once had been just as inquisitive as this lad was. So she couldn't help but nod in agreement. <font color="#1B3F8B"><b>"Yes. I don't think your mother would mind. I might be able to teach you some things, too. Here, let me show you something."</b></font> Keita turned to move away, back to the other side of the bridge, hoping he would, in fact follow. Her leaves and vines made a rustling sound as she padded back towards the other side of the stone pathway over the river. Once she got there, she stopped in the grass and smiled. <font color="#1B3F8B"><b>"What do you see around here? Use all of your senses, even any magical ones, if you have them. I'm curious."</b></font> A fresh set of eyes, looking at things that she had looked at before. Maybe that would give her a bit of perspective.

Skye hopped up and with a youths enthusiasm trotted along, as he followed Keita. The idea of learning something new excited him, and from such a powerful wolf as this! He tried to contain his excitement not wanting to ask too many questions like he had when he had lessons with his father. Instead he silently followed Keita and tried to answer her question. It seemed like a silly question. "Well I see the trees and the river and this big stone thing. I can feel the earth and water. I see a big bright sky. Umm. I see you. I'm sorry I don't know what you mean. Is there something I am missing? What do you see?" It seemed a couple of the questions slipped from his maw before he could hold them in, oh well, they were out now. Maybe she would ask them and not get upset like Ahti.

Keita smiled gently, nodding to him good-naturedly as he rattled off what he saw. Well of course, those were just things one saw with one's eyes, and to a young wolf, well, that was a first impression she had expected. It, honestly, gave her a fond reminder of when she had once spoken to her own pups about such things, long ago. So the queries did not bother her in the slightest. <font color="#1B3F8B"><b>"You are correct, of course. But maybe, try for something a bit more, perhaps. You can feel the earth and water, but what does your affinity to them make you see? What do you feel about them, how do they look to you, a wolf that uses magic? "</b></font> The dynroth was always patient, there was never a reason to rush such things. In fact, she was now starting to figure that she wasn't about to learn anything else about portals this day, but perhaps she would learn more about something else in the world instead. That, and this youngling was quite eager, so that eagerness should be rewarded.

Little Skye was quite confused by this wolf's question. Mother and Father had never told him that he could see things with his magic. . . Was this wolf crazy? He eyed her suspiciously, but she had given no indication that she was a lune she he suspected that due to her being more powerful she must know more things about the magic. So, he tried again. "I can feel that the earth is strong. But that sounds silly. The water and earth seem to combine at some point, even under the earth. Is that what you mean?" he asked now quite puzzled. He spun around to face her with a very perplexed expression on his face.

She smiled kindly at him, wanting to explain. So, using her own earthen magics she told him more information, hoping it would trigger some ideas in his own head. <font color="#1B3F8B"><b>""Here, feel the earthen magic as I use my own affinity, the earth is strong, but can you feel what it's made up of? It's not jst a solid mass, it's lots of small bits all together, rocks, dirt and grass. Plants sprouting from tiny seeds. And sometimes, you can feel where other disturbances have been, you can feel tremors through it if other creatures are walking on it nearby, or where some big magical event has taken place and disturbed it somewhat."</b></font> Her barks were smooth and melodic, though informational, coming from her wide and far pool of knowledge that she had in such things. For a moment, it did sound like she was teaching one of her own pups and that made her smile fondly. <font color="#1B3F8B"><b>"Are you sure you do not feel anything else?"</b></font>

Skye pondered the puzzle in silence much like his father. What was this that was expected of him? He tried once more to feel something that he might be missing. He felt how the trees connected with the earth and a the sprouts of grass and flowers. A few moments passed and he felt something heavy shift the earth a few wolf lengths or so away. It seemed a deer was off in the tree line or something. Other than that he wasn't sure what Keita wanted from him. "I feel the trees and the earth and the grass and maybe a big animal over there beyond the trees but I am not sure what else there could be to feel. What do you feel?" he asked innocently seeking answers.
