It was easy to tell that her opponent was losing her life force at an alarming rate. Even while Abyss had pummeled Sif quite harshly with her magics, the great grey lerkrat had withstood them all, her hide being tough as nails and her body reacting much better to recovering from such attacks and counter attacks than she could have even hoped. Sif had never needed to be in a battle such as this one, and she was, honestly, quite pleased with how things had gone, despite the seriousness of the situation. The sword, now lodged in her opponent, lifted up into the air as the ubeli struggled to get herself airborne, even as she pummeled the grey wolf with yet another blast of magic. Bending her head, she growled in pain as the harsh winds struck, one of her eyes becoming clogged with debris whipped up in the frenzy.

Now, however, was not the time to paw at one's eye, no matter how bad it stung. Instead, she fought through the pain yet again and gritted her teeth to draw forth her <i>light affinity</i> once more. She could feel now that her reserves for this were getting very low and she realized she might not have much more use of this. However, for now, she sent another beam of light, this one sharpened to a point, towards the ubeli, aiming for the sword, hoping that the light would travel along the blade into that deep wound. Her shot saw success and the blade seemed to light up a bit as the light surged through it, going deep into the other wolf to burn and wound.

The black ubeli was not doing well. The light magic had hit her very hard that time, and she struggled to stay in the sky this time, even with the pain coursing through her body. Her wings moved jerkily, unable to really control her flight very well, so she was only really able to stay in one place, above her opponent, stubbornly trying to hang on. However, a realization was coming to her that if she persisted in this manner, she might very well meet her own end. That thought did not sit well with her and she mentally cursed the other wolves that would have helped her in this quest for not being around any longer. Especially that Aporia, whom had promised so much but delivered so little. She gritted her teeth and tried to keep herself together, raising up a forepaw to scrabble at the sword and try to pull it from her form so that it could not be a conduit for any further magic. That simply would not do. Finally, with a great wrench, it fell to the ground, blood still coming from the wound, but she was able to stabilize it a bit with her blood magic. That was the best she could do, however, cause herself to not just bleed out.

So, she knew she had to make a definitive blow. It would surely be her last, and she gathered up all of her might in her <i>shadow affinity</i> that she could, simultaneously creating a darkness within this full area about she and Sif and striking from all sides with shadowy tendrils to grasp at and slice at the grey beast. It was the best thing she could think of that would hopefully disorient the other, and make it so that at the very least, perhaps she could avoid another attack and make some sort of recoup of her own life.

She saw her attack be successful and was surprised that the ubeli could even continue to keep herself in the air even as she flailed about to rip the glowing sword from her chest. It finally came free and Sif narrowed her eyes to try and see what would come next, as clearly, Abyss was not going to give up this fight so easily. Another opponent might have, but this wolf was clearly stubborn

So she was not at all really surprised when she was plunged into darkness. Tendrils of the same darkness struck out at her, grabbing her body and slicing deep into her flesh. A lesser wolf would have cried out but Sif was not that wolf. No, she knew that she still had more to give than her opponent ever would, and she simply steeled herself against the attacks and focused on her light affinity. Dispelling any sort of darkness like this, she had never attempted nor seen attempted but if anything could do it, it would be this light magic. So she focused, all around in an attempt to hold back the darkness and hopefully strike her opponent at the same time. A huge burst of light came from Sif's form, knocking back the darkness, and striking against Abyss as well.

It was almost as if everything about this battle was destined to fail her. Even while she could feel that she'd made a good attack against the lerkrat with her darkness ability, she still seemed to just not be able to pierce the flesh of the other or hold her back really at all. It was maddening, and when she felt the jolt of energy coming from the grey wolf again, knocking her own manufactured darkness away, she snorted in surprise and disdain as the force of the magic simply crushed any and all defiance that the ubeli was still able to gather and project outwards towards her opponent and she fell to the ground like a stone. That last bit of magic had truly done her in and she collapsed, no longer able to do anything due to the pain coursing through her form and the breath that was suddenly more and more difficult to draw.

Through a haze of pain, she glared at Sif and barked in her whispery tones, now weak and raw due to the effort it had taken to do what she'd done during this battle. <b>"Finish me off then! What, are you stupid?"</b> The dark wolf wheezed in a coughing laugh, spitting up more blood even as her own magic was difficult to draw due to her exertions. While she could still feel her attachment to her elements, the extremely devastated body simply couldn't do anything more. If this Queen of The Aegis was truly a smart opponent, she would end her life.

Sif saw the ubeli collapse and she snorted out a huff of air. Well, she'd won, hadn't she, so it was time for her to see what her opponent would do now. Would she accept defeat and walk away? As the large wolf stepped closer in order to find out, she realized the answer was screaming in her face in defiance still. No, it seemed, yet still did the black wolf screech out of spite and flail in her weakening breath. Her paws stopped as she got within a wolflength of Abyss and she frowned down at her. <b>"Do you truly wish to die? You could simply give up this crusade of evil intent and go about your life far from me and my own."</b> Was her deep bark down towards her, wondering if Abyss really did feel that she would rather die than simply admit she had lost this batle.

When the large grey wolf approached her, Abyss stared at her defiantly, her dark gaze vicious and downright evil in it's intent. She was not afraid of death, and snarled, snapping her jaws as her opponent got closer, even still, hoping to catch a piece of that sweet flesh and fur in between them. However, Sif stopped and barked at her instead, and the ubeli laughed, cackling as she raised her head to the sky.

<b>"You are a fool. You let me live, and I'll be back."</b> She wheezed as she made the effort to gather up a final bit of her magic, gathering water from the ice and snow that was around her, that element near to her as the terrain allowed it. Forming icicles, she shot them at Sif in a final burst of defiance, hoping to give her opponent a face full. Perhaps even still she would be able to slink away and even as she released her element towards the now closer lerkrat, she struggled to get herself back on her paws, flailing wings as she attempted to make an escape. Then she would come back with more force, and end this wolf once and for all.

Sif was not prepared for the wolf to have enough energy to make a final attack, even as she lurched unsteadily to her paws. Fortunately for the great grey giant, her tough pelt held up its end of the bargain once again, protecting her from the worst of the attack. Still, ice stung her eyes and irritated her already torn ear and she growled viciously, showing sharp white teeth as she snarled at her opponent, whom was now trying to limp away.

Yet, the great grey giant stopped short of lunging at her and ending her pathetic existence once and for all. <i>No</i> If she went after and killed the ubeli, that would be a problem. That would show that she hadn't changed from the wolf she had used to be, the wolf that simply killed upon orders from whatever gods in her old land had decided to hand them down. Her snarl relaxed slightly into a disdainful look as she watched the black wolf limp away, knowing that she might not make it far, but also realizing that Sif had given her a choice to go, and the great gray wolf would not reach out now and take that away.

Sighing, she shook her head, the blood still dripping from her ear and let out a huge sigh. Slowly, she turned and started the walk back to her own pack, after watching Abyss' form slowly dwindle into the distance. Where the other wolf was going, she didn't care, but it certainly wasn't here. Sif knew she'd need to find a healer, and to that end, she figured she'd at least get back and rest for a bit first before making a journey to find one if that were necessary.

The ubeli was surprised but not really, when Sif did not follow. That stupid wolf's honor had gotten her nowhere this day, it seemed. So, she cackled to herself as she drug herself away, hoping to find somewhere she could hole up and recover from her wounds.
