Gnash didn't even twitch when the wolf moved to stand, after all, he could've eaten him at any moment, so why would he now that he was further away? He understood a little of what the wolf was telling him, and that was "Take the food." and so, he took another berry, and gave the other a happy squeak.

From that point on, he thought if he stayed close by, he'd get more food. Perhaps this was friendship, he didn't really know.
