Falling forward
The world fell out from beneath him.  The dark night sky fading rapidly as the mist shifted around him.  His felt his feathered wings for only a moment, the wind whispering through his feathers for only a moment before he could no longer feel it.  He let out a short howl, before the ground came up to meet him.  He reached out, searching for something - anything.  His magic had left him too, but he could still feel the earth and the water that wasn't to far away.

He reached forward, his eyes still closed.  Small pebbles began to roll toward him, and he felt the drain on his body and mind almost immediately.  He opened his eyes, looking at the small rocks.  He sighed softly, "They have taken the mastery from me."  He looked upward, the sun shone brightly down on him.  He padded toward the water, still oblivious to the scents and smells around him - as if the rest of his senses still hadn't caught up to him.  He looked into the water, surprised to see that his pure white coat was now a pale shade of blue, almost equal to that of the day sky.  He peered closer, noticing the purple stripes all down his back.  He moved his tail into view, the rings of purple accenting it not to much of a surprise to him with the rest of the changes.  His blue nose touched the surface of the water, and he called to it with his mind - causing the ripples to stop rapidly.  It was all he could manage though, and he sighed again.  This world, was much different than where he had been.

The wolf took a look at his reflection again, the shinning gem on his forehead a new feature as well.  It seemed, that as he called to the elements it shone a bit brighter - its golden shade a color he was baffled by.  His wingless body was stark to him, but the weight of the fur was obvious.  He breathed yet another sigh, continuing to stare into the water.

"They have sent me here then... but why... "  He paused, considering what had been happening before this fall into a new world.  He would have died, he had fallen a great deal... and his wings were to injured.  The pack he had been sent to watch had fallen into chaos, they had lashed out without any form of guidance and would have killed him surely.  So how then, did he end up here?  He wondered for a moment, if he did indeed die.  Concluding that, perhaps that was the reason he was so different.  That perhaps, he was reborn here.  It was plausible, after all.

RE: Falling forward
Gnash had been looking for food that his wolf friend might've left him when he spotted a similar coloured wolf to Shinshu, and wondered if they were related, then he wondered if it was an enemy here to steal his food away from him. The giant rat skittered around the back of the wolf, and up a tree directly behind it. His sticky paws enabling him to grip the bark very well. He stood there, facing downwards and most likely out of reach of the wolf and made a loud high pitched shrieking noise. "Go away!"

RE: Falling forward
He pulled his ears back at the sudden noise and turned rapidly. He saw the source of the noise before he smelled it, and found himself wondering what it was for a brief moment. It looked as if it were an extra large version of the rats his world once had. He took a step back, the water soaking into his fur.

He curled his tail underneath him, not wanting to get into any fights with something so, unique. "Hello..." His voice was calm, smooth, and showed no tones of anger. He pushed his ears forward again, watching the rat intently. He wondered if this creature would be amused by simply magics. "I am Aeon." He put emphasis on his name, not knowing if a creature like this would be able to understand him at all. He had only communicated with a different species once in his life, and that had proven rather difficult. "Do you like... water?" He collected some of the water from the lake mentally, forming a small little trail of water around himself and reconnecting it to the lake. He focused harder, pulling some droplets from the trail and tossing them a little bit into the air. "See? It's fun." He chuckled a little bit, and looked back to the rat, letting the water go back into the lake and sink into the earth below him of its own accord.

RE: Falling forward
<i>ooc: joining this thread! Sijor has not met "Gnash" either! xD </i>

**

Sijor had just returned to Orior after some speedy travels through the lands looking for her best friend and finding nothing. She was sad, and a little frustrated. Why would magical portals come and take wolves anyhow? What sense did that even make? However, that was the only thing she could think of and she had decided, finally, to just return home, dejectedly crossing the border and stopping suddenly when a strange smell assaulted her nostrils. Her ears perked and her eyes sparked with a bit more interest. Was there a new wolf on Orior's lands? That might be the best distraction from her current troubles, even if there was a smell of wolf but also a weird smell along with it, almost a sickly one but she couldn't tell. Well, Sijor was an explorer to the truest sense of the word, so she knew she had to find out!

So with a bit more of an energetic trot than she'd had to arrive here, she moved further into the lands and came, of course, to the lake. There she found a strange di'shei looking up at a tree where there was a . . . Giant Rat? She blinked a few times and tilted her head. Fortunately for the rat, Sijor was pretty calm about things like that, especially since well, if it did decide to try and harm them, she had magics to back her up. Besides, now that she had identified the weird smell as Giant Rat, well she certainly didn't smell any others so that meant it was a loner, and not able to really do much, after all. Not that she liked the idea of it just running about but it hadn't done anything to her yet. So the three-legged hybrid wolf addressed the di'shei with a merry bark. <b>"Uh, hey there! I'm Sijor, and well, I've been a bit away, but are you new here to Orior?"</b> He didn't really have an established 'pack smell' but that didn't mean anything, after all, she had been gone several days and a lot could have happened in that time. Sitting down, she smiled at the male and swished her tail back and forth behind her.

RE: Falling forward
Gnash's nose twitched as the wolf spoke. He knew one word, and that was "Hello". The wolf obviously didn't understand at all, because it tried to earn the rodent's trust by showing it the same magic that Shinshu had. He slunk his way further up the tree and walked across a thick branch, looking over the lake. A series of clicks and squeaks came out of his mouth that he used to summon the fish-wolf should he be near. "Water wolf!" he chattered as loud as he could, then focused his attention back to the wolf. "Two now?!" he thought, and hissed angrily at them both from above before making his way back down to the position he was previously in. "No food? Then leave!" he squeaked.

RE: Falling forward
He was focused on the rat far to much to realize the other wolf had come upon him. His senses were far to dull in this world, he had become to used to be able to sense the sheer life of creatures and their thoughts and emotions- this whole new place seemed to have stripped him of his abilies, leaving him only with novelty tricks. He did turn to briefly look at the wolf, just to see who had spoken. Then he redirected his attention back to the rat, who seemed to be agitated about... Something.

"Forgive me, m'dear, if I don't look at you while speaking but this... creature... Is questionable." He paused, glancing back at her again, "I am not from Orior." He took note of her size and build, and the fact that she seemed to not be bothered at all by the creature and felt himself relax a bit.

"What is Orior? And what-" he gestured back to the rat, "is this" He decided, perhaps that this creature could after all at least vaguely understand and moved a bit closer to it, inspecting.

After a few moments he barked again, "Name?" Maybe if he kept it simple... He thought about the she-wolds comment, suddenly wondering where exactly he was. Was this world called Orior? He smiled at the creature, and backed closer to the water.

RE: Falling forward
The rat seemed to just get angrier and climbed up higher onto another branch to make noises at them again before climbing back down and shrieking even more in irritated tones. Sijor cocked her head at it, wondering what it was on about and she looked at the new wolf. She smiled and nodded to him as he indicated the Giant Rat was holding most of his attention. <b>"No worries, then! I guess you're just visiting our pack, which is called Orior, which is of course where you are right now. Well, you're welcome to! My mom always says that we should welcome visitors if we can, and it's always good to make new friends! That's a Giant Rat, by the way. Let me see if I can um, help it not be so angry?"</b> All of her barks were fairly swift and in a high-spirited tone, as she tried to pack as much information in as possible with her communication back to the wolf. Sijor honestly didn't know a whole lot about Giant Rats save the fact that they existed, and had no idea what one was doing here at all, but she had to try something, it seemed to be getting more and more irritated and that couldn't be good for it.

So, she brought forth her spiritual affinity, looking at and focusing on the Giant Rat. The creature wouldn't be able to really tell that she was doing anything, due to the nature of her magic, unfortunately her wolf companion would not be able to tell either since she was focusing only on the rat, but she would emit a sense of calm and at the same time try and see if she could discern any sort of need that it might have to cause it to be in such a state of agitation. While the rat was clearly almost as big as she was, she stepped forward to do so, unafraid.

After a moment of the concentration, she nodded, stopping the magic, and then looked at Aeon. <b>"It can't really understand us much. I mean, I think it can understand some body languages and stuff, like most creatures, or rather, it should, so if we don't look threatening, it probably won't cause trouble. I used my magic on it, anyhow, I mean, HE. He's hungry. I can help with that!"</b> Then, she focused on the tree that the rat was on and using her earthen affinity, caused it to sprout a few apples within its reach, a couple dropping off to the ground as well, in case that was too difficult for it to get to. Then she nodded from the rat to the apples and backed up a bit, looking back at the di'shei with a smile.

<b>"I think he'll feel threatened if you are too close. Giant Rats, well usually they run in packs and this one's alone so maybe he's lost. They can be a bit dangerous, too, so I don't know that I'd really get too close to him at least until he gets a little less angry. I suppose some wolves would try and drive it off, too, but my best friend always said that it's not nice to be mean to others and I don't know if maybe that also means rats that aren't attacking you yet? Anyhow, what's your name?"</b> She barked along in her rambling, perky manner, looking at Aeon with a smile and another tail wag. Even though the mention of Shiloh gave her that sad pang in her heart again, she shoved it aside in the interest of meeting this new wolf and hopefully making a friend.

RE: Falling forward
"Water wolf!" he called again, since he didn't come the first time, and glared at the blue wolves below. The lighter one seemed to try and communicate, much like water wolf had done, and he recognised the wolf talk, too. The one word he knew that the fluffy wolf uttered, was "name". The giant rat eyed him, and spoke with a hiss and click "Gnash.". Even Shinshu hadn't gotten it right yet, and the rat did wonder why... it was a common name after all, wasn't it? Trying to look like a wolf for a moment, he kept his eye contact, and snapped his head to one side, hoping it would convey a questioning tone, for the other's name. That was all the wolf language he knew, really, since water wolf did this a lot, along with that insufferable smile of his.

The darker blue one started talking, so he made his way around the tree, trying to look out for the white wolf. His nose twitched as he heard another word he knew, he believed it to be his species in wolf talk. He jerked his head towards them, now sideways facing. Somehow, a calmness came over him as he looked at the darker one. She even stepped dangerously close, and he flinched, but didn't protest verbally. Locked in to the blue wolf's eyes, he didn't notice the apples growing, but when he saw a shiny red one drop from the sky, and more following, he snapped out of it. His stomach tightened and he scampered down the tree to collect it since they were at a safe distance. He grabbed the closest one, balancing on his hind legs and holding it in his front paws, and took a bite, swallowing too fast to even taste, he was that hungry. He then squeaked happily at the wolves. "Mine now!" He told them, and ran away from the lake area.

On his way, he bumped into the rodent, who was carrying an apple in his mouth. "Where did you get that? You better not have stolen it..." he told the rat, and journeyed towards the lake, the rat by his side.

He came upon Sijor, and a stranger, to whom he bowed to, and greeted. "Greetings. I am Shinshu, Protector of the Orior lake." he signed, then looked to Sijor and the pile of apples. "He hasn't caused any trouble, has he?" Shinshu asked, gesturing to the creature he had bonded with.

RE: Falling forward
Aeon looked wide eyed at the strange new wolf... fish.. wolf...? He squinted, and shook his head a little bit, wondering if he had bumped himself a little to hard on the way through the portal. "So... the rat is yours?" He pulled his ears back, "And, you... " He gestured toward Shinshu, "What... ARE you?" He put a heavy emphasis on his question, he didn't mean to sound rude but it probably came off as such. He had never seen anything like this other wolf before though and his mind was swirling with plausible explanations - but he couldn't pull any from it. And to top it off, the rat seemed to be this strange creatures pet. But he smelled like a wolf, and spoke like a wolf... he just didn't really... fully look like one. He glanced back to the other wolf, hoping to have some sort of explanation offered up.
