(OOC: Could we use this as the monthly challenge and make this four pages? Also, the crystals have not yet grown fully, they're just little pointed bumps sticking out.)

Enfys was now fully healed, and itching to fly. This morning the itch had come in a physical form. She had been rolling around all night and had had a terrible night's sleep due to the constant scratching. She emerged from her den and loped to a nearby tree, which she ripped the bark off, using it as a back-scratcher, before healing the tree back to it's former glory with her earth magic. She had smallish bumps all over her spine but the biggest one was on her head. She couldn't see what it was- she only concluded it was annoying her, until she could feel what it was when she made an effort to. It was then she stood still, staring at the tree, blinking in disbelief.</td>

The rainbow colored di'shei had woken up fairly early and had been enjoying the sun upon her feathers, basking in the rising orb's light high atop of one of the buildings that made up the pack area. That was, of course, until she heard movement down below, a little in the distance, something that sounded like a tree was being ripped up. Wondering what sort of bird or animal could do that, she got up and flew over towards the area, arriving just in time to witness Enfys healing the tree from some damage that it apparently had taken. She didn't see any creature nearby so she assumed it must have gone away already. So, she landed just nearby and smiled to the other wolf, dipping her head in greeting. <b>"Hello there! Really cool magic you used to heal that tree! I hope one day I can have that sort of magic, it would be cool!"</b> Her bi-colored eyes caught the strange appearance of the small pointy bumps on her back but wasn't sure she should say anything, although her head tilted a bit in a quizzical manner.

She turned to face the rainbow coloured Di'shei, nodded a little and shifted her eyes to the tree, then back to the wolf. "If you gain an affinity for earth I would be happy to help you! I thought I'd heal the tree after using it's bark as a scratching post." she giggled. Enfys didn't see anything wrong with it as long as she put it back to it's former glory, after all. "I've been itching all night. Speaking of, could you check something for me?" she asked, and lowered her head. She could feel that it was a crystal, just over an inch tall on the top of her head, but she didn't trust her instincts, and needed confirmation. "What is this, do you think?"</td>

Happily, she nodded, her twin tails swishing. It would be cool to figure out if she had earth magic or not, but she had no idea how. She'd come upon her other magics easily enough, of course, so perhaps she just had to figure it out somehow. <b>"Yeah! I'll have to figure out how to tell if I can learn that. I'm still not sure how that all works, how magic just gets learned by some so easily."</b> Perhaps that would be an investigation she could go into, and maybe Enfys could help her with that, too!

However, the subject gradually worked itself over to what had been scratching the tree, and Kaleidoscope was pleasantly surprised that the topic did change to the strange outgrowths on the back of the other wolf. She nodded and grinned. <b>"They're all down your back too. They're like pointy little shiny things! What sort of mutation do you think that is?"</b> Now that she had somewhat of a permission to look further, she did step closer, her eyes widening as she saw how they seemed to even refract the light a bit! How cool!

I can feel what they are, but can't quite believe it...." she trailed off at the end, and quickly took a nearby pebble that was suitable, hardening it with all her might to make a tiny, grey crystal. She held it above her head, by the largest one growing on her body, and tilted her head to the other female. "Am I right?" she asked. Though, the crystal she had made with haste was probably not as pretty, she was certain it was recognisable. </td>

She watched the other's eyes widen and she hoped that had been the right answer. Then she saw the crystal that Enfys made and she nodded readily, her tails swishing with the motion. Well, she hadn't seen <i>that</i> before, she didn't think, but it sure was pretty! <b>"Yeah! That's it. They're crystals, aren't they? Very cool! What, do you think they grew there because you no longer have your wings?"</b> The moment that bark was out of her muzzle, however, she snapped it shut, blinking her bi-colored eyes in surprise at herself. Surely, the darker wolf wouldn't want to have brought up that her pretty wings had been destroyed. Even while it had been a long enough time ago now, it likely still wasn't an easy topic to think about. So she stayed quiet a moment, making sure that she wasn't about to be chastised before perhaps continuing the conversation again. She really did want to know more about those crystals, after all.

It seems to be a mutation similar to Keita's, or Shiloh's. Do you know either of them?" she asked. "I think it's to do with my mastery of earth, since both of those wolves have earth, and earthy mutations." she said, tilting her head. She'd never really put that together until now. She wagged her tail slowly as hope was starting to flood her. [i]"Things might get better for me."[/b] she thought, right before she twitched her head, and scowled at the itch.</td>

Well, she was very glad that Enfys didn't seem to take offense at her blurting out the thing about her wings. She even seemed to think that perhaps now the other wolf was pleased of it in a small way. However, the idea of having this sort of thing pop up because of a magic . . . that confused the brilliantly rainbow di'shei. <b>"You think so? Wait . . . so um, what mutations do you get if you have air magic or water magic? That really happens, you get mutations because of the magic?"</b> Now that was something she really had not experienced before, but apparently, Enfys might have, even as annoying as her crystals were at this time.

She looked back at her wings momentarily, wondering if they were connected to her element. And then she thought about her gills and then looked at her paws, where she spread the toes of one forepaw apart a bit to look at the thin membrane between them. Which of course was covered with some fine sand. Frowning at it, she wished that it would just move away and thought about the fact that it would be nice to have the ability to learn the earth magic, maybe she could keep the earth <i>off</i> of her paws instead of always on it. As she had that thought, she almost felt a faint connection with the small mites of dust as she snorted at their presence, and jumped slightly in surprise, looking back up at the other female. <b>"Is it possible to just get an element that's not tied to any other elements you already have? LIke just gain an affinity?"</b>

Not letting it completely defeat her, she thought up something. "I suppose ... I got wings very early on because of my previous affinity with air,
which was lost when I took the portal here. I trained in earth and my wings started to hurt, and fell off, along with my feathers? It cannot be a coincidence. Keita is connected with earth more than anyone I've ever known, and she has beautiful plants flourishing on her." she paused, humming for a moment. "As for air and water ... You have wings, and webbed paws." she noted, as the other Di'shei looked at her paws. She wasn't sure about the twin tails, sticky paws and long fur, though.

Her thoughts got cut off with the colourful wolf's question. She tilted her head very slightly, then reset and gave a nod. "Most of my affinities have been out of the blue." she explained. "Maybe I'll get mutations to go along with fire and water one day..." she trailed, noticing the other female's surprised face. "Have you found something?" she asked.</td>

  Atarah had once again returned to normal. She had again gone for her early morning walks and her evening strolls. Though she had her wings, she enjoyed the walk. Sure her view from the sky was amazing, she knew that walks helped her strengthen other muscles and she didn't want to depend solely on her wings. Aiken rested this morning between her wings but at the sound of the others he jumped up and rather comically rested on the top of her head between her ears.

It just so happened that on the way home her ears picked up on the barks of two of her pack mates, Enfys and Kaleidoscope. A small shift in direction meant she reached her friends a few moments later.

"Good morning." she greeted them cheerfully. "What's going on?" Her eyes scanned Enfys who seemed to be going through a new mutation. It made her own wings itch remembering the time her wings had grown in.
