It was early in the morning, and the giant wolf was groggy, as always. Alas, he had to get up- or that is what he told himself, for he had a duty to perform! Rolling to his side, and onto his feet, he lit a dim light to guide his way out of the tunnel entrance, and to adjust himself to the harsh lighting contrast. His den's tunnel was long, steep and as narrow as it could get to prevent the cold air reaching it's way in, but it was nearing winter, and even the dirt inside the tunnel had frosted over, crunchy and cold under his paws, just like the snow outside. Squinting at the light, he extinguished his flame, and squeezed his way out of his den, shaking his shaggy coat off not long after. 

Freyadim yawned, and stretched, his eyes still half open, but even at that state, he immediately could tell something was wrong. His yawn turned into a loud, upset roar, that then turned into a yowl- almost one of pain. In his confusion, he dropped into the snow, and rolled around, his long fur got coated in the bitterly cold snow, but that was the only way he could bathe right now. Standing, he shook himself off again, and pulled the remainder out with his magic. The Lerk'shei then lifted his paw, and widened his maw, sticking his tongue out to taste the scent. It was him, just ... green.</td>

A blaze to keep out the cold

and to color us so bold

in warm hues of a fast-burning

churning life no longer yearning.

Flickering like windblown leaves

fell long ago from frost-touched trees

whose branches swayed with tiny dancers

skies rained down to give no answers

Winter was perhaps not the best time to be out, but for a highly adaptive gourom, it wasn't a whole load of trouble as it would be for, say, perhaps an ubeli. To be honest, he'd never really understood how they survived winter at all, but he supposed that magic could go a long way, for some. He'd never had much of that though, and as such, dutifully ploughed back to the winter camp to make his presence known once in a while. It was early morning, having walked most of the night to make sure he didn't have to sleep in the Foul Marsh, but he was on his way to a well deserved rest.

His thoughts were interrupted by a long howl, almost a scream, to which he jerked his head and quickly moved past the boulder that shielded the camp's entrance. Staring around with his brightly coloured, but slightly dazed-looking eyes as it was still early in the morning, he searched for the source of the sounds - quickly finding the much darker coloured version of Frey. Wasn't he supposed to be grey before? Conall looked more closely. Yes, he definitely had looked differently before. Still, no need to go screaming in the early mornings like that. "Mornin Frey, 'tis the trouble?" he asked.

He turned his head to the familiar sound of his pack mate. He put his paw down with a thud, his chest pounding. "Wha' happened te me? Is this normal?"
he asked, his speech sped up, clearly shaken by the ordeal. He spun around to look at his whole body, coated in green just like Conall, save for his feathers. A dark red, like his paws.
He gasped at that, too. </td>

Conall watched the whole ordeal almost calmly, while Frey was almost losing it. His tail swished at the rapidly barked questions, and he shook his head. "Wou'nt call it normal, but no problem either. Dunnae need t' fuss o'er that. 's Nae like ye grown three heids." he commented dryly.

"No problem?" he barked, still shocked. "Ah'm green, like you! Are you my real fa?!" he exclaimed. He sat on his hind legs, to look at his chest, and caught a glimpse of his beard, then stood again to take a look at his tail. Stretching his tongue out, he crossed his eyes to look at that. He raced close to the Gourom. "Wha' colour are my eyes?" he asked demandingly.

Conall barked a laugh, seeing the funny side of the situation. However, he snorted shortly after that. ”Ye know who ye’re fa was. ‘Sides, Ah’m not that kind o’ green.” he shook his head, thinking that Frey’s green had a different kind of shade to it.
He blinked his bright blue eyes as the large wolf stared into his. ”Same.” he concluded. Or at least not that different that he’d noticed a change.

To his response Freyadim sighed, starting to calm down. "Aye, you're right..." he panted. "Ah jus' don't understand why ah've changed. All mutations ah've seen 'ave been cool... this ain't."</td>

Conall shrugged at Freyadim, though internally he was quite happy that the boy was finally calming down. "Ain't all will and wale, lad. But Ah like yer new colour scheme." he offered with a grin. Dark green wasn't so bad now, was it, so Conall was quite finished with the whole ordeal. "Let's get sum' work done, ey?" he proposed instead. "Get yer mind off things."

Freyadim took a deep breath, and sighed in relief. "Ah guess it could be worse." he told himself out loud, and pricked his ears at the suggestion of getting something done this early in the morning. All of a sudden, the Lerk'shei felt tired, but with a stretch and a shake, he barked. "Ye, ah'll help ye today. Maybe we can get some trainin' in."

The now green wolf bumbled over to Conall's side, ready to pull his weight.

Conall nodded, heading towards the outskirts of camp. Perhaps they’d be able to catch some kind of elk today, between the two of them. If they were lucky enough to find one.
