    Though it wasn’t the time of year to be collecting herbs, Atarah was certain there could be some still alive to spite the snow. Some herbs, she knew, were very hardy and would survive the bitter cold of winter. 
<br>
    Every time she visited the Dark woods, it seemed they got darker and the dark, clouded skies of winter didn’t help. In the past these woods would have scared her, but now she felt confident that she could defend herself from whatever came her way and if nothing else fly away to safety. 
<br>
   Her spirit and earth skills had improved significantly since she had last been in these woods. Using them together she could sense where the herbs rested. She could sense what she thought might have been some bitter leaf at the base of a large tree. Though the cold stung her paw pads a bit she gently pushed some of the snow out of the way and found the pale yellow plant. It just so happened that it was still alive and viable. She felt some curemoss nearby. ’Strange,’ she thought, ’I’d think it is too cold for the plant to survive.’ Upon inspection she found that the curemoss was there, however, it was far too brittle to be used and it broke when she tried to lift it. ”...Oh well…” she muttered to herself and continued her search.

Bjorn was minding his own business, filling himself up on the last scraps for the winter sleep, when he came across a scent he did not approve of. A wolf was deep in his territory, although his bounds were clearly marked. He grunted angrily, and slowly bumbled his way over, in no rush to scare the stupid wolf off.

Soon, it was in sight, and he sniffed deeply again, all he could tell was that it was female, not that he cared. His red eyes stared right at her as he got onto his hind legs, standing at a whopping ten feet tall, he let out a roar at the intruder. "Out!"

    Startled, Atarah jumped a bit at the sudden appearance and the roar of the massive creature. How had she missed such a creature? She should have been able to sense he was near, then again, she had been very focused on finding the herbs maybe she had noticed something but had ignored it. It seemed now that was a terrible mistake.

   Being the peace maker that she was, Atarah gently tried to calm him with her spirt skill and spoke lightly. ”Greetings, I am Atarah. I come to your woods in peace. I seek only to collect a few herbs for my healing den. I mean you no harm.” Maybe this creature would understand and allow her to continue her peaceful search.

The wolf barked at him, and he walked forward, using his thick, stiff tail to balance as he did so. He snarled at her once more, and dropped to all fours, pounding his front legs hard on the earth as he did so. Letting out a series of slow barks, and groans he told her in bearish "Are you stupid? I said scram!"

Bjorn had given enough warning to her, so he started to charge forward at the yellow bitch and swiped his paw at her. Perhaps that would teach her!

    She had not anticipated the bear’s attack but had felt his anger build. Without the time to move out of his way his giant paw collided with her shoulder and neck causing her to take several steps to the side. After regaining her balance she felt her own anger rise. ”How dare you! I said I come in peace! Maybe the bear had not understood, but that did not matter. He had struck her and that was unacceptable. No one would ever hit her again without consequence.

   She decided the best course of action was to teach his soul a lesson. Using her spiritual affinity she targeted and tore into his soul. She placed a curse on his soul to help him remember to mind his manners. This would ultimately plague him and deal small amounts of spiritual damage to him long after this encounter.

With a few huffs, he panted out a laugh as she stumbled and struggled to stay on her feet. Glaring at her as she angrily barked at him, he prepared to receive a lesser attack, lifting his paw, ready to parry, but he soon discovered this was no ordinary wolf, and she reached into his head, tormenting him from inside. He roared as she did so, shaking his head to try and get her out. It hurt a lot, but it soon somewhat subsided. "Magic is the coward's way out!" he told her in bearish, and lunged forward, attempting to bite her.

    She let out a small yelp as his teeth sank into her but not as far as it could have been. It seemed he was not as strong as he thought he was. Since she was in close proximity to the bear she decided to return the favor of his bite and also dig her claws into him. It wasn't her strongest attack but it was something. He would pay for this dearly. She shoved him back after her blows trying to put a little distance between them.

She seemed to have understood him, and attacked him with a bite in return, he groaned and threw her off after she pierced his skin quite badly, but he wasn't about to give up now she was fighting fairly. She jumped back to get some distance, but he easily threw himself forward and pounded both of his paws at her head.

    His blow to her head wasn't much and she easily shook it off. "Really? Is that all you got? I'd think a big bear like you would have a little more power. Guess you're just a weakling." She danced around him taunting him, finding herself enjoying this far too much. Once the opportunity presented herself she leaped onto his back and began digging into his neck and shoulders.

This wolf was hardy, or Bjorn had forgotten how to fight. Either way, it annoyed him that she danced around him, and he followed her by turning, however, that only disoriented him for what was about to happen next. The next thing he knew she was on his back, he snarled in pain as she bit him, got up onto his hind legs and slammed into a tree, hoping to catch the wolf in between.
