She blinked her eyes and nodded finally, seeming to understand better now. So instead of her own pack, that lived above ground, his lived below. That was both interesting and at the same time very intriguing. Skadi couldn't imagine living solely underground, but he also seemed to be so excited about the surface, too, so that was fun! <b>"Well I'm glad you did, there are lots of fun things on the surface! And yeah, I have magic, but I don't know about running. I don't think . . . I've ever tried."</b> She grinned hugely and wagged her tail. However, he had mentioned that no wolf he knew had magic so she figured maybe she would show him something cool. So accessing her light affinity, she created a floating ball of blue light and then gradually moved it about and melded it into the shape of a small wolf that ran around in between them. The blue glowing little wolf was clearly able to be seen through as she manipulated the magic around. <b>"Look, that's light magic!"</b> She barked happily at him.

He barked happily back! He started to circle around it, trying to see every angle. "That's amazing! I didn't know anyone could that. Can I learn? It's so pretty..."

He touched the glowing wolf with his paw to see what it felt like.

"This is so exciting. I can't wait to tell everyone back home!"

She saw his excitement and it excited her as she wagged her tail, the long fur of it sweeping the dried ground all around her. Nodding happily, she barked a bit. <b>"Yeah! Both me and my brother can do magic. My older brother was really good at this light magic too, and he helped me learn more about it when I was having troubles even!"</b> She manipulated the little light created wolf figure around, as it shimmered and 'walked' as a little not quite real thing did. The grasses and ground around were easily visible through the illusion, for that was really all it was. When he touched it, well, it wouldn't really feel like much to him, for it was just a show of light, and she obviously wouldn't make it any sort of harmful, not that she really understood how to do that anyhow. <b>"I think you could learn it? I was born with magic, cause my parents had it. No one you know has it? That . . . that sounds sad!"</b> Skadi frowned at that realization. To her, magic was the most fun thing, but to think that other wolves just didn't have it, that made her sad for them.

He barked happily as the wolf moved around. It was like nothing he'd ever seen before. Even illusions impressed him, no matter how lacking they were in solidity. It was so cool.

"I want to learn! Maybe no one knew because we don't need it in the colony. Up here you have so much more light, all the time. Is there more magic? You said 'light magic' but is there 'dark magic'? 'Cold magic'? 'Hot magic'?"

Bartok wagged his tail just thinking about the possibility. Maybe there was magic to help him find his way home.

She beamed happily, pleased to have another wolf that wanted to hear her talk about magic. It was pretty cool, really, to have another wolf to share it with, because honestly, she had only ever met other wolves that already knew about magic, so they weren't nearly as interested. So she picked up her forepaws in an excited movement before barking what she knew about the magics. <b>"Yeah! So light magic uses the light, so I guess it would be hard to do underground. My older brother figured it out a bit though, because when you get better you make your own light, too! And I know there's also air magic, and water magic, and yeah, dark magic too because my sister had it and I can do it a little bit."</b> As she realized that he had in fact, likely referenced the shadowy stuff that she'd been learning a bit about before her sister had disappeared. Frowning a bit at that, she continued after a pause, the smile going back on her face despite the obvious hitch in her dialogue when she'd remembered that. <b>"Also there's hot magic too I guess because fire is hot and that's also a magic! My brother Frey is really good at that one, he gets lessons from this really cool wolf in the south!"</b> Not that she knew how to do all of those but she knew most of them!

His tail wagged excitedly. Those were so many different kinds of magic! He wanted to learn something.
"Can I go learn magic from the south? I want to learn magic! Fire magic sounds fun!"
There wasn't much in the way of fire underground, since they rarely had need of it, and it rarely happened on its own. Bartok was excited by the idea that he could make it.
"How did you learn?"

She noticed that he was especially interested in fire magic, which was too bad because that was one that she didn't know. However, maybe she could help him figure out how to find it, so she would at least try to help in that manner. <b>"Well I don't know how to do fire magic, and my brother knew it like when we were really small so I think we got it from our parents. But I think that you can learn magics if you spend time with them. I didn't know how to do the shadowy magic until I spent time with my sister that used to do it all the time around me."</b> It was true that Skadi had seemed to just learn it from being around her sister, maybe she'd been absorbing it or something because she didn't remember any particular lessons or anything. <b>"And there's a pack in the south that's got some really nice wolves in it they're named Orior. There's a big fire wolf there that showed my brother a lot of stuff."</b> Nodding in affirmation of that fact, she pointed to the south with a paw, towards what one might be able to see was a distance forested area. <b>"They live in a bunch of trees around a lake!"</b>

Bartok barked happily.
"That's so cool! Maybe I can learn now too!"
He thought about what she told him. A pack in the south? Maybe they would teach him how to use fire. He looked in the direction she was pointing. He couldn't see them from here, but it couldn't be that hard to find other wolves. He'd found this one!
"I should go learn fire magic from them. Orior sounds like a really nice teacher. Are you going there now?"

Her smile was pleased as he seemed so happy to learn magic. He made her remember how excited she had been back when she'd figured out how to use magic for herself and that made her happy. However, she shook her head as he asked if she was going down there. She didn't think it would be good for her to be too far away from her pack without telling any wolf that she'd gone. So she couldn't just leave and go, and well, she didn't want her brother to think she'd just gone off on her own. <b>"I'm not, not now anyhow. I gotta get back home I think, for a little bit anyhow. I've been exploring for a while and I don't want my brother to worry. But! You know they are really nice down there so you don't have to worry."</b> She reassured him, hoping that he would go seek out his fire if that's what he wanted. Skadi herself was a bit fearful of fire still, even though she didn't run away like she once had, it was still a bit scarier than she would have liked. <b>"I live up in the Ice Forest though, that's far to the north, but it's hard to miss, it's a giant forest of prickly trees that always has snow! So if you ever wanted to visit you can. We're kinda small but that's not a bad thing."</b> After all, it was nice knowing exactly everyone in the pack and not being afraid at all.

"Okay!"
He wagged his tail, imagining fire coming out of his mouth. He could bark and make fire. Everyone at home would think it was so new and exciting.
"A forest of prickly trees in the north. I'll remember!"
Bartok wondered if he should go back to the colony, but he didn't think they would miss him. He'd told them he was leaving.
"Good luck with your magic! I promise to visit soon."
Bartok left, trying to find his way to this pack.
