Gnash had seen the she-wolf go into water wolf's den, and was waiting for her to come out, lurking on a thick tree branch in silence and glaring at the entrance. Stomach twisting, mouth dry with hunger that no amount of water could fix. The giant rat course call water wolf, but knew he couldn't shriek as loud as he could howl, and the fire wolf would see him first. Though they'd never met, he knew that she could conjure from watching from afar, and had never taken the risk. At this moment in time, however, he couldn't help it. He had checked the main food larder that he wasn't supposed to take food from, and it was occupied by an unknown pack member, so this was his only chance. "In, snatch, out..." he told himself. "How hard can it be?" He was about to find out.

Easily descending the tree with his sticky paws, he made it to the ground, and scampered very close to the entrance, peeking around the corner. Nothing. Maybe he had accidentally taken a nap on the branch... maybe she wasn't here! Still he was careful to skulk along the main tunnel, and soon took a right to the food store.

   Vuple had been busy tending to the fire waiting on Shin to come home. She hadn't been home long but decided to eat before he got home. Here lately she had been a lot hungrier and had begun to gain more weight. She told herself it was just because the dreaded winter was upon them and nothing more. With the fire roaring once more and fighting off the frigid air, she padded off to her rock pile where the other food was stored. 

   Her nose told her she wasn't alone long before her eyes found the invader. The fur all along her back and shoulders along with the prickly spines stood up on high alert. Once she arrived in the threshold she stood with her legs shoulder width apart in a ready stance and gritted her teeth. She stood off to one side so he could head her warning if he was smart enough. She snarled and growled a nasty, "OUT" a little spit flew from her jaws.

A half-eaten fish scrap was left by water wolf. "Yes!" he thought, as he snatched it up and made for the exit, but as he came upon the main tunnel entrance, his ratty senses picked up on the presence of the one he feared. Quietly as he could, he backed up into one corner of the room, hoping to hide from fire wolf. The giant rat crouched down in silence, behind a pile of rocks- though it didn't hide him, with the fish still in his mouth, hoping she would pass.

Of course, she came around the corner and Gnash froze in fear, eyeing the orange Ubeli. All he could feel right now was his heart beat. The bitch made a unfriendly growl at him. Other than knowing she was acting aggressive, he didn't know what she was saying. Water wolf had never spoken to him this way.

The large intruder remained still, almost frozen in his position. He even had the audacity to steal from them! Without losing eye contact with the patchy rat she conjured a fire-ball, letting it float beside them. She really didn’t want to have to use it, but she would if he again ignored her warning.

She took a step forward and again, with her head lowered, and snarled at him, ”GET OUT!!”

The fire that was conjured snapped him out of his frozen state. The glint of the fire lit up in his eyes as he stared at it. He gripped his carcass as tight as he could, and lowered his head, averting his eyes from the beast. The giant rat was intelligent, and had spent enough time observing wolf talk to know that this was a submissive move. Though this move was humiliating, at this moment, he knew fighting wasn't an option. With his whole body crunched up as small as he could make it, he made a move towards the opening that led to the exit, hoping the beast would let him pass.

She watched the creature as it cringed in the corner. How dare he take something of theirs. It looked like a scrap though, and Shin could catch them quite easily. She didn’t feel much like herself these past few weeks and didn’t feel up to fighting. She thought maybe she was sick or maybe had accidentally found something to eat that wasn’t rock based or something because she seemed to throw up each morning. Strange. Maybe she would talk to Shin about it later.

It must have understood her because it started towards the door. She took another step to the side to allow it to pass but kept her shoulders square with him and kept her snarl.

(OOC: I will reply as Gnash later, if you come back before I get to it, please wait ^-^ <3) The growls had been heard by the Lerk, amplified across the pond by the tunnel's echo. Bolting as fast as he could, he dove into the lake, and used his powerful legs and finned tail to push him forward. Water magic was on his side as well as he used his skill to push the current to whoosh him forward. The huge lake was travelled through rather quickly. Pulling the water off of his oily coat easily with his skill, he padded into the tunnel, not even bothering to sniff at what might be there. "My moon and stars, are you alright?" he called out to his mate. The snarls were coming from the store room, so he pushed forward, rushing to help the love of his life.... only to find Gnaw, his pet rat, cowering in the corner of the room.

The fox wolf seemed to step to the side, so he slowly crawled his way along the wall, keeping away from her as much as possible before he would head to the exit. As he psyched himself up to make a break for it, his hero appeared. He dashed to Shinshu and hid behind him.

Her eyes never left the creature, not until Shin arrived. Her heart lurched as the creature approached him, she would NOT let that thing hurt him. "Shin watch out! It is stealing food! It might hurt you!" However the creature hid behind Shin as if it was familiar with him. She stood there confused, but the spines on her shoulders still stood on end.

Calmly, the Lerk turned his head to the rat, giving him a stern expression, wondering what he was going to say about all this. Shortly after, he turned his head to his mate and lowered his ears, a nervous half-smile appearing on his face. "I probably should have told you sooner about this, hm? Apologies, my love." he stated, and stepped to the side, revealing his pet. "I believe his name is Gnaw, or some variant. The name suits since he is eating so much, and acts aggressive, however, he is intelligent enough not to attack wolves." he explained to his mate.
