She blinked and tilted her head at him a moment as he explained what he was talking about. Oh, so he was one of the ones that had come through a portal. It made more sense now. "Ah, so you are not native here either. I understand I lost a lot of power when I came through the portal to here. I had to relearn my earth magic again, but it can be done because I did it and I can grow trees or shift earth with only a moment's thought now." She told him without hesitation, not finding it a problem if he knew of this. After all, it seemed that he understood what powerful magic was, then.

Looking around, she nodded and, with a small thought and use of her watery magic, she produced a small pond of water up out of nothing just off to one side of them, the water simply welling up from the ground into the shape of a wolf-sized body of water. "That'll help it not get out of hand, if it does, well it's easier to pull the water over if it's already present, eh? So show me what you can do now then and I'll see what I can help you with. Or, is it just that tiny fire moving? "

The creamy wolf nodded slowly, his eyes gazing at the vast amount of water she had collected. It annoyed him how powerful she was, but he didn't let it show. Shuffling his claws in his discomfort, he uttered the words "The miniscule amount of fire dancing around is the best I can do." A few seconds later the wolves green eyes met, and he wagged his tail a little. "I'm more than willing to be a student of yours, if you are teaching...." he barked. He smiled sweetly, but tried his best to not overdo it as he had done in the past.

She tilted her head and nodded at his admittance that the fire moving really was the only thing he had talent with. Well, that meant there was somewhere to start at least, and she figured it wouldn't hurt to share a little bit more about the way that the elements seemed to work best here, in these lands. "You have experience with fire from the other land you are from, it is true, but here in these lands, remember that each of the magics is associated with the corresponding element. So, to study it, you have to be aware of how that element works. With fire, it is a bold element, and one that easily can get out of control if you are not careful. So, let's start with just creating an actual fire, first, because that is both the hardest and easiest. Easiest because you are just producing heat into kindling, but hardest due to needing to control it so that it doesn't simply spread." She used her own earthen affinity to whisk a pile of grass and twigs together in front of her student, to prompt him to try and start something.

His smile vanished quicker than one could imagine. Luci had one heck of an unamused face on. "I know how to start a fire." he droned, a little annoyed that she wasn't teaching him anything new. "Who cares if the fires get out of control?!" he thought to himself. Using that pent up anger, he focused on smouldering the kindling, moving the heat energy into one spot, it caught alight fairly quickly. He looked up at her briefly, his eyes saying it all. "Easy." Looking back down, he sent the fire more energy, letting it grow to set the whole pile of twigs on fire.

The small butterfly winged wolf raised her brow only slightly at his quick change to an unamused expression. "You seem upset, but remember, one should start at the beginning when learning, especially with a new tutor. You and I, you see, have only just met this one time." Was her melodic, yet matter of fact reply to his somewhat annoyance. Her own gaze was that of a patient instructor but also steeled with the mettle of one that was not simply going to be taken advantage of by a brash youngster. Which, to her eyes, he seemed to be in this moment, as he took up all of the burnables with the fire, as if that were impressive.

"It does not impress me that you can grow a fire. One must control it. Control is where the mettle of a fire user is really tested. Shrink your fire to but a mere single, upright flame, without waver, if you can. Then I will know more about your mettle." She spoke plainly, nodding to him, expecting him to do as asked. If she were going to show him anything at all, it would be in her own terms, and if he thought differently, well she was not bound to this place or this wolf. Aura, however, wanted to give him a chance, and the fact that she was offering this even after seeing how he seemed so clearly disdainful of how she'd started, stated as much to her patience and composure.
