Sijor shook her head a bit at that. <b>"Well they're here, but not <i>here</i>, they're all living in this one dwelling thing that's really shiny that's um, well it's sort of more to the south of here, we passed it in our travels. I didn't want to stop though. And there really aren't a lot of them. I think there are more wolves in the lands then them, so yeah they're pretty rare."</b> She frowned a bit at that, still not sure on her thoughts on the whole series of events that had happened a while ago to cause her to lose her leg. However, she didn't want her new friend to think she was afraid of anything, especially since she wasn't at all sure it had been on purpose. Sijor still felt that perhaps it had all been a stupid mistake from the get go. <b>"We can go find them if you want. They don't speak our language, and sometimes they're dangerous, but I can take us there."</b>

The thought of finding such creatures interested Skye greatly but the idea of them hurting Sijor again invoked a very serious look on his face resembling his father and his eyes glanced at the empty space where her leg should have been. "Not happening. I know too little about their magic and I doubt I would be able to protect you if they attack. I won't risk them hurting you"'I care too much for you already the thought after speaking. He certainly wouldn't include those words yet. The idea of it made his stomach flop. Besides, he doubted she could feel the same. Sure she was nice to him and had agreed to go exploring with him but that was her job after all and she was nice to everyone. He didn't want to fool himself into thinking she could care for him, so he kept his thoughts to himself for now.

She tilted her head, a bit confused for a moment as he looked at her missing leg. Sijor looked down at it as well, curious as to what he saw there. Then when he barked his response, she realized. <i>Oh, he's worried about me getting hurt?</i> The thought went through her mind and she grinned at him, her tail slowly wagging. <b>"Well, I mean, I don't think it would be so bad this time, if we didn't get too close! Last time, we got super close to them, and I think it scared them. Kinda like . . . how a new mother gets worried about their pups. Maybe?"</b> Her head tilted back the opposite direction, her ears flopping a bit with the motion as she thought about whether that was an appropriate comparison or not. Well, whatever, she wasn't going to argue with him about it.

<b>"But we don't have to! And you're right, they can be a danger. Like the zephyrs or the bald bears. You don't want to trust them."</b> Sijor said that firmly with a nod of her head. Then, she looked up at the sky and squinted a bit. She had heard some noises just a bit ago and she had been wondering if they'd wandered into one of the areas that the strange zephyrs called their home. Some distant noises made her wonder. <b>"Speaking of the scaly birds, I think they're around here. We might not want to make a whole lot of noise."</b>

He shook his head as she spoke. He wouldn't let his curiosity get her hurt. But it didn't take much convincing for her to dismiss the idea. Instead, she mentioned another creature he knew nothing about. His head darted around for any suspicious creatures, but nothing struck him as unordinary. "You're so smart. What don't you know?" again, he stuck his paw in his mouth and babbled like an idiot trying to smooth out such a star-struck comment. "I mean...you know so much about all the creatures here. I had never heard of a hooman thing before and I have never heard of a zephyr either. I know about a bald bear but...what is a zephyr?" After he asked he realized he must sound so stupid. Of all the things to talk about or that he wanted her to recognize him about, he was doing a great job making himself look like an idiot.

Sijor giggled at the comment about her being smart. She shook her head lightly at the idea that she was that smart. <b>"My mother taught me most everything I know, and well, I explore a lot and find out new things! So it really isn't something another wolf can't do."</b> Was her explanation, not wanting him to feel bad that he didn't know this as well. That wasn't very nice to do to a friend. Then she looked up at the sky again and narrowed her eyes, before starting to head over to one of the ruined building things that had a bit more cover than the others, speaking in lower tones as she did so.

<b>"Well the scaled zephyrs are birds, kind of. But they have scales on them and they're really mean! They tend to get braver when there's more of them, though, and they like to live in this area of these ruins. I think honestly, they like the taller places and I bet our sorts of magic could defeat them but I still don't want to find them if we don't have to."</b> She grinned, stepping into the ruin that had a bit more of a roof on it and sniffing around. This one had a lot of musty smelling containers in it that had likely once been nice, fresh wood but were now rotting and falling apart.

He nodded, maybe if he did more exploring he would find other things too. It would be especially good if Sijor came with him. You know, these thing kinds of remind me of the zoo. You've been there, right?They have all the little habitats that are all different. I wonder if the same kind of thing was here too. The ones at the zoo seem to be in better shape though. He followed her into the structure. The different smells intrigued him, his mind ran wild with ideas of why when and how these things came to be. Dust had settled in many places along with cobwebs and a small bird's nest in the corner. Something in the corner struck him as especially interesting but upon inhaling the scent the dust caused him to sneeze violently and shake his head. "Excuse me" he barked right before another, "Excuse me again! It seems my nose isn't as excited to be here as I am." he chuckled and kept looking around.

She nodded to him with a smile. She'd been once, a long time ago, so she remembered only a little of it, and she hadn't even gone much inside, either, not to look around at length. <b>"I have, but I'd like to visit again sometime. I didn't spend much time, and from what you say, that might even be more interesting to look into than out here!"</b> She offered up with a grin. Suddenly, without warning, he sneezed and then sneezed again. A chuckle broke free of her maw and she wagged her tail with an amused expression, tongue lolling. It was understandable with all the dust, and she thought that if she'd had air magic, she might have been able to air the place out, but that was not the case, she supposed. Oh well, it would have been cool though! <b>"Yeah there's lots of that in here too! But sometimes there's cool stuff underneath all the dust!"</b> Sijor then pushed her way towards what he was looking at which seemed to be a quite moldering pile of wooden something that might have perhaps treasure inside? They never knew until they looked . . .

Then, as she entirely forgot about perhaps even keeping quiet, it happened. There was screeching outside, and the whirring of wings and several loud thumps landed atop the dwelling's roof that they were in! She frowned and looked up, her eyes widening in surprise and a bit of fear. Those sounded like scaled zephyrs. She pushed outwards with her spiritual affinity, hoping to catch a glimpse of their spirits, to really tell and she shook her head and looked at Skye. <b>"Oh! There's three on the top here, I think they know we're here, and well, they're kinda rough to fight, so maybe they'll go back away if we're quiet..."</b> She offered up to him, hoping that might be the case. However, even as she mentioned that, she heard a scratching from above and parts of the ceiling of said dwelling started flaking down a bit, as if it really hadn't been that sturdy anyhow.

He flashed a bright smile at her. He loved to hear her giggle. It really was music to his ears. His smile vanished at the scraping sound coming from above. His head shot up and the fur along his back stood on end. Even though he'd never seen one, he trusted her instincts. If they knew the two of them were there, there really wasn't much use in running. He protectively stepped in front of her. He wouldn't let them get to her. His eyes scanned he area for a way out. They could lay low, but then again he'd rather not let the other creatures limit his options.

"How fast can you run?" he whispered softly in her ear. The normal butterflies in his stomach when this close to her had been replaced by a fire that he couldn't explain. How dare these stupid creatures ruin such a pleasant outing! "If you think you can, make a run for it and I'll cause a distraction. Maybe I can lead them away from you long enough for you to make it into the trees. What do you think?" He tried to remember the layout of the structures. Maybe he could use it to his advantage. He knew he was quick but not as fast as her. There was a chance he could buy her some time though. He had never put much thought into combat training. It was times like this that he wished he had asked his father for more lessons.

She tilted her head up at the roof of the structure, trying to figure out if they were really going to try and scrap their way in. The scraping had stopped after a bit, but then picked up again and they started making some high pitched noises that made her own ears flatten a bit and her tail twitch. To his question she nodded. <b>"I can run faster than most. I don't think they would catch me, but they'd catch you and I think they're trying to call more over."</b> She could only assume such because those cries sounded awfully a lot like summoning ones. However, she shook her head at his idea to let her run for it while he stayed to fight them off. <b>"I think we have to come up with a better plan, if I leave you here, you'll get hurt, and that's not something I want to happen either. What if we found another distraction?"</b> She frowned, thinking for a moment, trying to come up with something that would work better. Finally, she nodded. <b>"I could try and make an illusion of a wolf walking into the building across the way, maybe see if we can't lure them there?"</b> Sitting down now, with her forepaw, she pointed towards another building she could just see in the distance from where their building was. It was a good ways across one of the flat paths.

     His brow furrowed a bit as he thought. He had suspected they would catch him, but that was a risk he was willing to take if it meant she would be safe. Maybe she would see that later. However, if there was another way- a way that allowed them both to escape together- it would be better. The screeching continued and pierced his pinned down ears. 
<br>
    The fur along his back stood on end as thoughts of them getting to her ran through his mind. He wouldn't let that happen. She suggested a distraction. He silently agreed that there was merit to the idea with a simple nod of his head. There was a trick that his father had taught him. "I have another idea, here look." He focused on the moisture that existed in the air, pulling the particles together. He had become quite good at this and found it to be an easy task. Slowly a watery figure of a wolf stood by the doorway. 
"What if we each make one and have them run out before us? If the birds attack them, it won't hurt us." It took a bit more concentration but he made the watery wolf walk a few steps forward. His illusion was not as realistic as his father's but he thought it looked real enough, especially to fool a bunch of dumb birds. "What do you think? Yours could be like dirt or rocks or something maybe."
